I've never gotten this far in Baldur's Gate before! And it makes me happy! But at the same time, I'm worried. I'm on Chapter 4 right now, and my Beast Master Ranger is a level 5. Is this good? Or okay for the part in the game that I'm in, because it takes forever to level up. I have to get a whole 18000 more XP before I reach level 6, which doesn't seem like much at all after playing Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I'm not entirely sure what the level cap is either. Some discussion would be very helpful! Thanks!
Am I doing okay??

You will discover soon enough that where you are at is pretty normal for BG. Unlike modern games that send you to god-like status in most cases, BG is entirely a low-level D&D adventure which you can continue in BG2+ToB to advance your character further. Don't put too much emphasis on power in BG; hold on to that for the sequel.

Thank you! Yeah, I mean, I'm doing pretty good, just exploring around all the random locations in the sword coast. And I haven't died very many times.

Eventually you will get to the point that you never die at all. At that point consider adding some mods to keep the game interesting. People play the game for decades by altering it to stop it being too predictable. At the moment, just enjoy.
