Does anyone know why this game is stressing my 7970 GPU more than any recent game I've ever tried?
The GPU load is constantly over 85% (reaching 100% in lots of areas), and temperatures are around 70º. Crysis 3 levels of stress... This with vsync on.
This game shouldn't be that demanding.

No, it shouldn't, but it is. Especially with AMD cards, it performs much better on nVidia cards. To reduce some load, you should try lowering the shadow resolutions in the advanced options, also disable "render far shadows" to get a FPS boost and disable point light shadows (they are as good as not visible on AMD cards anyway). I know it sucks with a card like that, but that's how it is with a badly optimized game that's also a "nvidia-the way it's meant to be played" title.

FPS are not a problem. Rock solid 60 fps (it's a 7970 Ghz, otherwise would be like the worst optimized game ever), and a way more than 100 with vsync turned off. It's just it stresses it like playing Crysis 3.
