That's true...I forget about that because I've never had to.
That said, you could kill Leliana, too. I'm just sayin'.

But said element of the plot is poorly done.
If the player isn't given the ability to stop it, Anders' scheme should succeed because it is clever.
It should not succeed because everyone else goes completely stupid and Hawke is blatantly railroaded so Anders can win and Dragon Age 2 can finally stagger to its endgame.

To say that Merrill was inconsistent, we'd have to first know something, anything, about her character in DA:O. And we don't. She demonstrated no personality of any kind in the five minutes we spent with her, so how can we say that her portrayal in DA2 is inaccurate?

I did it once...
Deleted my character after that.
Never again.

I never kill/dismiss companions when I can avoid it, even if I hate them, because I want to experience as much content in one playthrough as possible.
Oh, my characters are perfectly willing. I just don't, because metagaming. XDSilfren wrote...

I don't kill companions simply because I never play a character willing to do that. It would actually be interesting to have a companion in DA:I who turns out to be so morally repugnant that only an Inquisitor of a similar moral alignment to them would not want to kill them.

I do kill Loghain, though, every time. Or have Alistair duel him, which amounts to the same thing.

That's not true. Her role in DAO is short but we do definitely get hints about her personality. She's no-nonsense and confident. She won't take Fenarel along with the Maharial when investigating the ruins unless she hears the Keeper gave him permission. She's curious about elven history but also unwilling to defy the Keeper's wishes. Even if one were to say she had "no personality" though, her portrayal in DA 2 is still inconsistent. Her goofy cartoonish awkwardness and mannerisms are completly absent in the first game. She's not a shy nerd with any comical misunderstandings in DAO.

Well, we all know how I feel about what Anders did. I wish the game had given me the option to express definite approval, rather than ranging from outright anger to uncertainty.
Sebastian: "If I'd been in that Chantry today, would you be waffling?"
Me: "No, Sebastian, I'd be cheering. You bug the crap out of me."

I too had wished Sebastian had been in that Chantry. Self-righteous annoying choir boy....<_<
Although he was kinda cute.

What bugged me more was how indecisive and stupid I found him.

NO, Sebastian, times are good BECAUSE the kingdom has competent leadership. Jesus Christ.

you know it would be intresting if one of your companions betrays you and continue to betray you. and the only sulotions are to kill them or make a counter plan to the betrayal.
I agree, where was my "aaaall riiight"-option? The nicest thing you can say is pretty much "their blood is on your hands" in an accusatory tone.Plaintiff wrote...

Right? A unapologetic manipulator that played you for fool since day one. Potential LI for added poignancy.
I can imagine how that would go down with the people who think the LIs are too "abnormal" and dramatic already.Foopydoopydoo wrote...

Hardly. Ignoring the fact that he was possessed and thus not exactly fully reponsible for his actions the man would not stop apologizing. I mean someone whose with you from close to the start who actively sells you out to an enemy and then tries to kill you at some point.

He is emotionally abusive and potentially manipulates Hawke into doing his own dirty work.
Abusers 'apologize' for their actions all the time. Doesn't mean they are any less abusive or even being truly sincere about them.
