 So it occurred to me that the world of Dragon Age may actually be fitting for vampires. The genre is already circling around Dark Fantasy and we have seen an effective DA Version of Werewolf in DA:O, plus games like Skyrim have already shown that you can add Vampires without turning everything into Vampire: La Masquerade. 

So what about meeting some kind of Vampires' underworld community in DA:I? Or perhaps even have the possibility to BE one of them as per selectable background option? I assume that probably DA:I is already packed with the multiple factions at war and the Demon Invasion, but that doesn't mean that Vampires couldn't make an appearence though. 

Would you like Vampires in your Dragon Age? Or are you absolutely against 'em? 

Vampires existed in TES games since Daggerfall, so it's only right to have vampires in Skyrim, and Oblivion, and Morrowind. But I digress, it would be great to see vampires in the DA universe, it's possible, but I don't think that we'll see any sort of blood-sucking vampires anytime soon in DA:I. But you're right, it does fit the Dark Fantasy genre, The Witcher series is also a great example of how they depict vampires.

I like vampires when they are more along the lines of magical, ravenous, blood thirsty creatures rather than just pale skinned undead people. But since we already have the DA equivalent of a vampire my points are moot.

Only if they're a new class of demons or a race that are similar to Legacy of Kain's vampires in appearance, and abilities.

It wouldn't surprise me if this happened. There's been a lore explanation of them in the Codex since Origins, so they exist. Why wouldn't we encounter one?

The only way I could stomach a vampire is if they were of the Nosferatu mold, IE, a terribly disgusting creature linked more to plague, death and disease than a pale shirtless guy. And in that case, I think you could just use a ghoul or darkspawn emissary who's also a blood mage.

I'm a fan of certain types of vampires. I've played a ventrue in a few world of darkness PnP sessions. Yet I tend to feel that I got plenty of vampire with my reaver in dragon age. When I consider the creatures they already exist in dragon age I believe there is a lot that could go wrong with adding vampires and it could be difficult to make them special. Your typical vampire is going to have issues when they're abominations walking around that can pretend to be human.

I don't think I'd like a vampire in Dragon Age. It's too cliche'. Unless it was done the way SgtElias described.

While the Skyrim Vampire DLC was fun, the one thing I hated about it is that once you finished, depending on which way you went, you were still hounded by vampires or Dawnguard attacking you out of nowhere. That was really annoying.

As monsters, I don't think that would really work. At its most literal, however - that is, people who drink human blood - a cult (like DAO's Haven) or a weird blood mage ritual could apply,

I love vampires but they almost always wind up totally stealing the show. And the worst thing is that it wouldn't even bother me that much.

If the human is dead, what does it matter? It's just protein.
