I think playing Mass Effect 'fast' is kind of missing the point.

It's still fun to watch... not as impressive as a Portal speedrun but who doesn't want to brag about playing the whole trilogy in under 6 hours?

Now THAT was awesome!
I'd never do it, especially not since I lack some of the squadmate achievements, but I really loved watching someone else do that

You can complete Morrowind in 15 minutes, dont mean you have too.

I can't do a speed run. I like to embrace the whole trilogy without going too fast (Even though I have restarted ME1 last Saturday, and will be done soon. I'm replaying My Canon.).

Those are the most painful video graphics I've ever seen.
He used a huge slab of screen space just for the clock. Chrissakes.

Really? That's how big the main storyline is?

agreed - and i bet he didn't do a complete play-through in that time (all missions, all collectibles etc.)
greetings LAX
ps: i don't get it what's so fun about rushing through any game like you are on crack, speed and other drugs

That's a good time! I'll take a look later at some point
I don't imagine there are many speed-runs of this game, though. Do you have any idea how well your time competes against others for this game?
I think it's about the challenge of knowing the game inside out, knowing it so intricately that you can complete it insanely fast, taking advantage of every single shortcut and glitch. It takes a certain skill set to do this, and with the internet enabling you to share it on sites like Youtube, your playthrough can even (if it's good enough) indirectly compete with other speed-runners all over the world. In other words, it's a way to prove that you can master the gameplay of a game combined with sitting on a library of glitch knowledge. It's hard work, but when you finish it with an impressive time, I imagine it's all worth it.
I agree that it's not what Mass Effect is built for, and I'd never do it myself, but I can certainly see why some would spend time on this

Oh god, I haven't played ME1 in so long. The opening with Shep walking through the Normandy with that music playing just brought a tear to my eye (nostalgia<3). I think I'll have to do another playthrough soon.
