I hadn't checked into this site in about a year, busy with other things and other games. Truth be told, Mass Effect was and is (and likely will be) my most cherished game franchise - it revolutionized some aspects of gaming and interactions between characters. I loved ME1 and ME2 undoubtedly: the novelty, the concept of space travel, galactic governments, and most of all the characters!
However when ME3 rolled around... perhaps it was the leaks or negative publicity but I went into the game with a tainted mindset and while I enjoyed the game it never instilled the satisfaction as the previous two games. I also played it very quickly, rushing to the ending. Combined with the lackluster ending and snowballing negativity I just naturally gravitated away from the franchise.
This past week I decided to play the game from scratch once again, this time with all the added DLC and extended cut. Having taken a large break from the ME universe (as well as the forums and disccusion thus forgetting much of the games highs and lows, details in some of the story etc.) it was almost as if I would be playing the game brand new.
I must say with a refreshed mindset and the new content - also soaking up each and every ounce of the dialogue and content at my own pace - the game is not without some large flaws but it is a worthy conclusion to the trilogy. It rekindled my love for Mass Effect and its characters. It had some excellent moments that bested the first two games (Tuchanka, Rannoch) and great in-game ambience with the on going Reaper War. The ending was 'acceptable' with the EC, and Citadel as cheesy as it was, was in fact exactly what fans like me needed.
It's weird to say, but I now have a semblance of tailored closure on this trilogy that was not properly fitted by ME3 the first time around.
Thank you for bringing an amazing expereince to my life, it's something I will never forget but I can now put to bed until the itch to play it comes around in a few years. Cheers!
Another Genuine Thank You Bioware!

I only came to this series in March. I played a bit of ME1 years ago when it first hit. But never finsihed and ignored it for years.
But a friend was a wreak after finishing ME3, for like a month. And So I picked up ME1 again, played all 3 back-to-back and I'm still stunned. This series, and a great deal of ME3 was the most painful, sad - generally emotional game I've ever played.
In my first play though I loss 7 crew members and felt every one. From Wrex getting shot by Ash to Marania dying; Mordin giving up his life; Thane's prayer; to saying my final farewells before the final battle; to putting Kaiden (my LI) on the Normandy; to the Citadel DLC's "the best". Heartbreaking moments and I hope more gaming series allow me to care so much for characters.
I mean, screw the ending. Yeah even with the extended cut it barely makes any sense. But it was the rest of the series - everything else that happened in the games that makes this series one of the most memorial. For me.

Yes, despite the ending being a railroad job, the game up to that point was excellent and the series is the best I have ever played. I've just moved on to playing Witcher and still can't get ME out of my head.

I agree.
I honestly don't mind the endings since DLC like EC and Leviathan are there. The only thing I have a problem with is the lack of an epic final mission (like where is the mission that is bigger than the Suicide Mission that I was building the entire galaxy worth of fleets and soldiers for? Where exactly are most of my war assets during Priority: Earth?), and small number of side missions, but for what it's worth, I love Mass Effect 3.
Mass Effect is the greatest gaming trilogy I've ever had the priviledge to play. Bioware did a fantastic job.

Absolutely, playing ME3 was a great experience for me.
During my playthroughs, I really got attached to the characters. It was like an emotional suite for me. Though many would say otherwise because of the ending, for me, I believe it was an excellent game. It's what happened through the course of the series that matters most.
BioWare did great with this one!

Absolutely. Fantastic job, loved it to bits. Aside from the ending, obviously. And being called a whiny entitled nerd for not liking it, I suppose. I mean, if you insisted, I'd be forced to admit the Shep's auto-dialogue utterly destroyed immersion on several occasions, and conversations with crew-members being reduced to "press X for soundbite" was viscerally disappointing. I guess, you know, if we're being REALLY pedantic,I'd be forced to admit the removal of a neutral option from the dialogue wheel and general simplification of the talky bits made it feel more like a movie than a game at times. Ok, I mean, I was a little surprised to see an "RPG" with only one hub. That was a bit of a let-down, and it would have been nice if exploration hadn't been cut out of the series. I liked exploring planets but oh well I suppose being able to fly past a planet with Reapers in pursuit and beam an Elcor assault team or Prothean relic or whatever aboard with a radar ping is pretty neat I guess. If you are some sort of bizarro-nerd that loathes the notion of things making sense. Alright, ok, if you're gonna twist my arm, I'll confess, I did prefer when people needed helmets to breathe in space and technology in general at least had some sort of go at explaining how it worked. and just a little thing but did EDI really have to be turned from one of the most interesting characters into a fem-bot with built-in high heels? For the whole thing? I mean, there was a huge opportunity there for her to control mechs or geth platforms as armour options but I guess not. Actually, as I'm talking about armour options where the hell were they? Well I guess we did get to choose which flimsy cloth outfit our female crew members wore instead of vacuum sealed battle armour so that was nice I guess. Dudes are the only ones in danger of getting shot, apparently? Well, alright, I suppose I could be convinced to voice my opinion on respect for past choices, or rather it's absence. Collector base? Rachni queen? Inconsequential, apparently. That was a little disappointing. I guess it would have been nice if the plot made sense too. No spies or leaks from a project employing thousands? Millions? Multiple species committing massive resources to build a thing found at the last minute with a completely unknown function? A rogue ex-alliance terrorist cell somehow becomes a greater threat than world-eating mechanical elder gods? Ooooooh kaaaaaaay. But aside from that it was awesome.

It's funny; I felt like the game was 'meh' compared to the first two the first time I played it, then on my second run (with extended cut) it was a much better experience for some reason.
Now with all DLC installed, the game is great for me.

So for only (assuming you don't mean genesis (320MS) it only took 3880MS to make the game good? No, wait, that's counting Omega as 600MS rather than the 1200MS it is normally. So 4480MS (€52 In Ireland) is a fair price to render a full "AAA" game worth playing?
I, for one, would like to be forewarned if I'm only getting half a game by buying it on launch day.
