Something very important. These aliens aren't just one race of aliens but lots of groups unified under said religion. They absolute pwn humans in combat through advance weaponry and superior tactics. All except one, very special and very lucky soldier- who's more than human.

So this game I've been playing is really weird. Your mom is huge and bushy. People are being shot out of cannons to get across the country. One of your main foes' true identity turns out to be santa claus. The sequel never made it outside of Japan, but some of the sequels after that did. People love it for atmosphere, the soundtrack, and you could even do multiplayer co-op in it.

The fact that nobody got this yet breaks my heart into tiny, tiny little pieces.

You get on a plane back home because your mother was killed. You return and ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FOLLOW THE DAMN TRAIN! Shortly after you are betrayed by a fat friend and you go to the countryside to rob **** and then you go to another city, kill some dudes, go to another become famous and retake your home from the betrayer.

San Andreas. The train was too obvious. 

I thought San Andreas was the one where you struggle to ride a bike and have to get to a spot which is a virtually invisible dot on a 2d map of the 3D city while pursued for no apparant reason by people in a car who are trying to obstruct you and shoot you and don't care how badly they damage their car in the process
(okay..I didn't get that far into it)

of course most of those have (possibly) female protagonists....I don't consider girls to be dudes
maybe Panzer dragoon saga
or Dragon Buster
or ....etc
