6 hours ago I installed Dragon Age Origins and Awakening off of DVDs, patched them, and have been completely unable to get the DLCs working.  I would have posted in the technical support section, but apparently I am not allowed to and can't figure out why!!?   I've spent hours and hours following every guide, every forum post, every help response I've come across.

Damn they make this stuff difficult...

I was able to manually download the Warden's Keep DLC and install it, but the Stone Prisoner one is not available for manual download and install off the bioware site.  Several FAQ/Guides have a link to the 2 files I need, but those no longer work :(

Even my old computer with DA installed no longer can connect to the DLC server correctly - so I know it has nothing to do with my computer, my install, or anything like that.  My other PC has been powered off for 2 years since I last played, and it worked perfectly back then.   Now everything just sits at 0% forever until it times out.

All I want is the Stone Prisoner DLC working so I can start playing again.  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

As I play on 360, I can't help you with PC problems, but I can answer one of your questions:

This is because all tech support has been relocated to a different site.

Well that is annoying :( Not like EA was able to help me with either of my problems with 2 other games...

Still having the issue today. All I'm looking for is an external download link for the stone prisoner mod. I definately own it, just need the files.

The Stone prisoner is activated by the use of a promo code. But you do need the offer file DAO_PRC_OCP_2 (search your hd for it).

You sound like you have a problem with the DAUpdatersvc
Here's a good forum:
http://social.biowar...8/index/6265850

Also:
1) Install Origins -- DO NOT LAUNCH
2) Install Awakening -- DO NOT LAUNCH
3) Install Patch 1.05
4) Launch the game, log in, and let it install the DLC... or... manually install the DLC.
5) Play and enjoy.

Yes I activated the DLC in 2010 or so. Downloading DLC is even broken on my computer that has not been powered on for 2 years, and that previously worked just fine. I see 30-something people in the support forum having an identical problem with no official response.

As for that link, I followed every suggestion in there and then some. My update service is definately started on both machines, but it does not act like it is working at all since none of my DLC will progress beyond 0% and fails after a few seconds to a minute.

I think the servers may have unavailable over the weekend; perhaps try again?
Here's a working link to download Stone prisoner:

Thank you so much! Not sure about their servers being down, support just said they are "investigating"... hopefully they can resolve it soon!

Hmm, so I installed it using the DAUpdater, and it said it worked. But Stone Prisoner is not listed under my installed DLC. Is that normal? Servers are still not working either, so it wasn't just the weekend...

ok.. I got my DA Ultimate from EA store, and the DLC there works. Not sure if you can register your copy on EA Origin store, and dl from there? Because when I run DA, I had to make sure I was logged in to EA Origin for my DLCs to work.

Well I don't own DA Ultimate. I own the retail copy of DA:O and DA:A. Both are registered with this site (can see them below my portrait I think) but I am not able to download them from within Origin. How would I go about registering them there?

I also just did a full -

Also:
1) Install Origins -- DO NOT LAUNCH
2) Install Awakening -- DO NOT LAUNCH
3) Install Patch 1.05
4) Launch the game, log in, and let it install the DLC... or... manually install the DLC.
5) Play and enjoy.

Manually installing the Prisoner of Stone DLC failed. It will not show up in my Installed DLC list.

Honestly, EA needs to figure this crap out. I endured the SimCity debacle and am still waiting on a playable version that offers everything promised. I got BF3 as my "free" game and Coop has been unavailable since my friends and I started it up last week. Now DA is broken. ARRGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

Hi Juason, I just recently decided to install DA:O and DA:A on my new computer myself, (I have the original games on DVD, not the Ultimate Edition) and play through it again. However, I encountered the same problems you seem to be having. (Paid and registered for dlc, but does not want to download them in-game at all.) I even called tech support about the issue and they couldn't seem to help me either. I looked through numeral threads and tried various solutions, none of them seemed to work. Made all associated programs run as admin, made sure services.msc had the DA content updater running, deleted Manifest files, cleared download cache. No dice.

After being frustrated for several hours I gave up.

I tried again a few days later, and noticed that on my Registered Content tab (accessible from your profile) all the missing links for dlc were filled in, and clicking them actually started up the download.
When I had checked previously before, they were simply no links there at all. So I downloaded all of it and used the DAupdater to install them manually and it finally installed and the content worked. I guess there was an issue with the download links that has been solved?

This was the only way I could get my DLCs to work, was to manually download from my profile page. Although I noticed one link was missing to get Stone Prisoner working, and that is the offer file (at least at the time I checked) which you can find here: http://dragonage.wik...ontent_(Origins)

Anyway, I hope this all helps you as I recently went through this myself. Cheers! Posted Image

Stone prisoner should be listed under your installed DLC. It didn't get lost in the crowd?

All of the main DLC’s have a separate piece, the “Offer”, which is where the quest givers (Levi, Felix, and Elric) live.
Check whether you have the Offer part installed

Go to My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Offers and look for the following directories.
dao_prc_ocp_2 (The Stone Prisoner)
dao_prc_onrx_1 (Warden’s Keep)
dao_prc_ocp_1 (Return to Ostagar)

Check the My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\Offers.xml file.  There should be an entry in there for each offer that is installed.  The game won't recognize an offer being installed unless it is in the Offers.xml file, so even if the directory is there, its not counted as installed unless its in the Offers.xml file.

To replace the xml files

If your content appears as unauthorized, exit out of the game and completely disable or exit out of any security software you have running. If your content appears as authorized, you may have to disable your security software or add an entry for Dragon Age Origins into its exception list. For more assistance in this regard, consult the software vendor.
If your issue persists, try the following:
1.Close out of the game.
2.Bring up the run box by pressing Windows Key + R on your keyboard.
3.Type in "cmd" and press Enter. This should open the Command Prompt.
4.In the Command Prompt, type in "net start DAUpdaterSvc" and press Enter.
You should receive a message that the Updater has been started successfully.

If the problem still persists you may want to try the following;
1.Shut down Dragon Age: Origins.
2.From the Windows desktop, click the Start button, and then select Run.
3.At the command prompt, type "net stop DAUpdaterSvc" and click OK.
4.Navigate to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings and delete the files Manifest.xml, Offers.xml, and addins.xml
5.Navigate to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age and delete the Offers folder.
6.Go to C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\bin_ship\\ and delete the DAUpdater folder.
Note, these steps are for player whose default hard drive is the C:\\ drive, who bought the Standard Edition of Dragon Age: Origins.
Folder and drive names will be slightly different if installed to a different drive and if you have the Ultimate Edition or Steam.
7.Navigate back to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age and delete the folder called AddIns.
8.Return to the command prompt (click Start, then Run) and type "net start DAUpdaterSvc" before clicking OK.
9.Restart Dragon Age: Origins and log in.

This is taken from ea help...

I appreciate the suggestions, but the Stone Prisoner is still not showing up as installed, despite the steps I followed above and trying everything mentioned since. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to give up and file with the BBB. I refuse to pay for something and then have it made unavailable. Really, this shouldn't be so difficult.

I guess you found the offers.xml file? Out of curiosity was Stone Prisoner there?

Yes, the stone prisoner DLC has a folder in the offers directory, and is visible in offers.xml.

The funny thing about manually installing is the first time I went into the DLC tab it asked me if I wanted to buy the Stone Prisoner for 1200 coins. After 5 seconds it then went to 0 coins, and vanished another second later and showed up in the Download tab. Why? I have no clue considering it is installed.

Also odd is the Warden's Keep shows up in both the Installed Tab AND the Download Tab. It is like the management of the XML files is broken, and the download capability itself is too...

My problem is not one of authentication, it is in getting the game to recognize the stone prisoner is installed.  Maybe it will show up in game when I get to that point, but I'm still a few hours of play away from testing that out.

Have you tried clearing the download cache? Forces the game to re-evaluate what DLC you have installed, and usually fixes any issues I have with the DLC tab incorrectly displaying content. This is done from the DAconfig, under the Repair tab.

Yup, it doesn't seem to actually do anything unfortunately. I also deleted the manifest.xml and addons.xml while troubleshooting 1 or 2 installations ago. Didn't seem to have much of an impact, if any.

One last try:
a new solution to this issue that you should attempt first:

Go in to your Dragon Age folder at C:/program files/origingames/dragonage and look for the _installer folder, then click on the DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML.exe file
then DAUServiceSetup.exe
