Tough PUG games – do you educate rookie players or quit the game?

First of all I’d like to say that I play PUG games very often and I’ve had some great PUG games and some tougher ones as well.
Last night I played some gold PUG games and it got me thinking about what I witnessed. More inexperienced players try gold or platinum with lower level characters and no equipment on. It is easy to leave the game lobby when you see this happening but what do you do when you enter a game in progress and you see your teammates being dropped every wave leaving you to clutch the game? Last night I had a gold PUG game, firebase London fighting Geth where I joined a group of players during the second wave. I had to clutch several waves in the second half of the game. We finished with 3 out of 4 extracting so the game was not wasted....

The question to the ME3 community is:When you’re in a PUG game that does not go well, do you stick around and help finish the game and hopefully lead by example trying to show the less experienced players how it’s done? Or, do you just quit and leave them to be overrun and killed off one-by-one without a chance of extraction?

I've got gear invested, I'm carrying them all the way to wave 10 so I get my credits.

I try to finish, although the servers may have other ideas.

I don't help them. Players who haven't bothered to get better on Bronze or Silver first don't care about improving, they just want credits, so I don't waste the time.

If I feel like carrying a bunch of scrubs, I'll stay and help. If not, I might take them to wave 3 and then wipe after the objective.

I never kick players from lobbies and I wouldn't quit a game in progress either, regardless of how bad or inexperienced the randoms are.

I played two games with MP-Ryan some days ago. A pug joined our lobby with a Graal AIU. He had a HVB on the Graal. I told him over mic that the Graal doesn't need armor piercing since it's a projectile weapon and that he should equip the HCB instead. He switched the HVB for a Piercing mod. :/

I don't want to tell you (or anyone else on BSN what to do for that matter) what to do in these situations. All I can say is that I would not be in a position to carry pugs on gold if it had not been for the help and advice of players far superior to me when I started getting into MP. In some strange way, I feel like I owe it to those guys (and gals) who did the same for me. That is all :)

I don't ever really kick people, unless a friend is wanting to join and the lobby is full or something like that. And i don't really ever quit a game either, of all the games i've played i've only quit a couple and that was because i was doing terribad.

Oh, and i usually always carry pugs when i need to. For the most part i don't really mind it that much, unless i had a bad day and just want a couple easy games.

I'm very careful and choosy when it comes to starting a game. If I see people using unmodded weapons, I will always leave the lobby. Always. I only put my equipment on after joining a lobby, so if I join a session in progress I will always leave, because I have no equipment on, I'll just be useless. I normally spend quite a long time screening lobbies. I don't like 40 minute games, and I don't like wasting equipment, and I hate it when people abandon games on wave 1.

I genuinely want to help because that's how I got good enough to carry those Gold pug games. It's difficult though, because most players don't want to hear it. Especially those that don't go to BSN.

With that said, I'll help anyone who is just breaking into Gold and play with them while they get accustomed to the difficulty jump. However, I won't carry players who don't try, meaning bringing equipment and using rockets & gel when necessary.

nope, I'll just leave the lobby or finish the match when it is done.

Well, first of all I do not quit unless the game is unplayable, which means unless I have MASSIVE lag that screws up my gameplay, I stick with it to the end.

And depending on what mistakes they do, I might give some tips, like don't run around everywhere in between waves as it causes the starting spawns to be all over the place, use throw twice to detonate TBs and then the BE too, such stuff.

I do not try to educate them in the finer points of softcover vs hardcover for example however.

I finish what I start. Only reasons I would ever leave a match in progress is, obviously real life calling, technical issues making the game literally unplayable, or obvious exploitation.

Really guys, three leeches in the same lobby? How is that even possible?

I'll carry them and then leave the lobby. If we get Geth... F*ck! them, they're on their own.

I rarely stay with a group of randoms for more than one game.
Whether good or bad randoms, I play the game, earn the credits and leave.

This is pretty much the same response I get. Also, had one a couple nights ago equip a Pistol amp - with a Reager and a Harrier, I politely asked if they realized the mistake, but the only response was a geen ready light. Of course this person spent most of the match face down/arse up. At the end I probably could have revived them in time to extract but, I can be jerk sometimes I guess.

That's what I usually do as well. I might stick around for a couple of more games if the first one was particularly entertaining, but that doesn't happen too often.

Well to be fair...if someone came on their mic and told me to nuke them (which they often do,) I wouldn't have either.

Then again, I can carry people to glory without missiles :]

This

Although if they do not listen to advice on gear or tactics, then we shall see about a second match. I find the ones that do not want to listen will either rage quit after enough time on the floor, or immediately quit after the game.

P.s. good games over the past few days

Sure, but after a 10 minute wave 5 I start to lose my cool. The matter could've been resolved quickly and we could get on with our game. Meh, what can you do. Was my fault for getting grabbed by a banshee <_<

It depends. 90% of the scrubs I run into have no intention of getting better and only want credits. But if they actually try, I'll stay in.
