I made Wynne an arcane warrior and I wonder if I should upgrade to massive (or medium or whatever) armor or will that draw too much threat.  I have alistair to taunt enemies.

edit:  I should add that I gave Wynne Arcane Warrior and she isn't ideally speced as one from ground up.  I gave her healing and primal magic (elements).

What level of difficulty are you playing on? Unless it's nightmare, Alistair should be able to pull most of the baddies away from her.

Thanks for answering mousetalker. I am playing normal difficulty. I have had some deaths but never had the whole party die. Wynne has stone fist and cone of cold to make 'getaways'.

I don't think I am going to play as an AW? But I just can wear armor maybe.

You can totally change to armor from robes, without worrying about threat. Effect of armor type on threat is massively overrated. Light armor draws 5 threat more than robes or being in your small clothes, and medium/heavy/massive draws 5 more; and this is added only once upon being perceived. 5-10 extra threat is negligible, as in tending to zero.

The thing is even if you are streaking across the battlefield, if you are dealing crapton of damage, they are gonna come after you. Don't blame your armor, blame Alistair (or the tank) or yourself instead. :)

Nice, Blazomancer. That answer nails it.
