One of the most important things for a fortress is naturally food and water storage. You can't fight without it. Naturally we need to see to the protection of these resources. Thus for the sake of the occupants well being and pest control the castle needs a large fat cat modeled after a maincoon serving as the larders defender. The cat should also have a badge with the inquisition coat of arms on it marking the cats official status.
The castle needs a cat.

I want it to be possessed by a Desire demon with a sense of humor.
"I'm a cat. Really."

Anyways, a tame ghast mascot could just as easily keep the rodents down.

We need a really fat, lazy cat. He'll be called Emperor and he'll be the true king of the castle. He will also ignore everything the PC says. Because he's a cat.
Companions and visitors to the castle will be required to bow before their king and shower him with gifts, preferably catnip, fish or cheeseburgers. Everyone who does not obey this rule will be sat upon repeatedly and kept from sleep by constant meowing.

I like the idea of a couple cats patrolling the larder. Having a Mabari companion was a good move but I'd like to give equal representation to felines as well.

I prefer Leopard, or a black panther. Big cat is awesome!

Yeah, I expect a Mabari, but it would be nice to have a cat too!

Koala's are horrid; their fur is all sticky and gross like wet sheep wool.

I also think it would add nicely to the atmosphere. In some ways I see it as the same thing as the fish, ships and hamster in mass effect 2 and 3. When three was rolling around there seemed to be a lot of people who wanted to know how their fish were doing. There was also the call for more conversation amongst the crew.
A pudgy feline walking around that you could interact with a bit and perhaps meow at you from time to time would add a nice bit of flavor. Like some of the above I would also like to see the return of Dog but I prefer the dragon age dog over the dragon age 2. Picking the right war paints for him, planning his moves and being able to interact with gift giving and petting was nice. Plus I liked it whenever he asserted his dominance over Alister.

Cousland!Mabari has the first quest as killing giant rats, whereas Ser Pounce-a-Lot was just a gift item if I remember correctly. Clearly we need another Mabari then.

Actually I think any kind of pet / animals will do. In a big castle, having pets around is great, especially since it can get lonely sometimes. A pet lion / panther / leopard / tiger would be badass

I'd like some sort of pet. In the first game we had a nug (and dog), in awakening we got a member to have a cat and a dog. In da2 we got a dog again...but no other minor pets. I want more minor pets around the castle.

I can see some random cat being caught shuffling around in random spots and having your companions react to it. Like catching it going through their underwear drawer and complaining to your PC about it.

Not if it's going to dig its claws in my Inquisitor's thigh, like my cat just done to me... the little ****.

For some reason that made my mind go strait to a renegade interrupt for some reason.
Caompanion, "Your ______________ just peed on my desk!"
Inquisitor, "Don't worry I know how to handle this." Back hands the companion knocking them flat. "Go clean it up before it starts stinking!" Then pets the offending animal.
I have a tendency to find animals less annoying then other people though.
