ORLY?

Unless you were to actually try to look up the subject of THE HORRORS OF SWAP.AVI! yourself.

Not excessivley!? I literally had to stop reading half way through the first page or risk throwing up my tai tuna dinner. I made it through the article, managing to avoidingly skip over the worst of it, but I still am borderline holding in dinner.

Seriously...

WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?

That said, the author of this article is awesome, for such a horrible topic, it was extremely well written! Funny as hell!

EDIT- Took out the link as I don't want any poor soul to suffer...

Are you nuts? If I send it to them, expand on my idea and sell it as DLC, who is the biggest loser here? If I'm going to create a DLC of some sort I will give it for free. In fact I'm on the process of writing an extension of Redcliffe, using the lake as the main element. There you go, I've given you a hint of a DLC that will be free very soon. Satisfied kid?

Why aren't you done yet? What's the holdup? Are you working late nights and weekends to get it out? Srsly u sux at customer service. Phail sauce.

That's what Bioware is seeing when they log onto the forums. Doesn't help get it done.

An hour worth of DLC and still they are working on it? Bad project management if you ask me. lol

You really have no idea what it takes to create an hour's worth of programming, let alone graphics, sound, voice acting, animations, and linking them all together. Why do you think it takes 2+ years to create good games?

I've done quest mods using the TES Construction Set and D'jinni using available content. An hour worth of gameplay is fairly easy to do specially if you really have a storyboard. So that debunks your claim that I don't have an idea on the subject.

So create one and send it in to Bioware. Saying you can do something proves nothing.

I like how you used the cover of "I'm making my own DLC" in order to call BioWare theives.

When trolling, it is best not to go overboard.

Because they have families and lives. Yeah, they're actual people. I would never want to play a DLC if I knew that some developers had to give up a week with their families just so I could play it. Lets see -you- give up a week with all the people you care about to create a program for a bunch of unappreciative forum-trolls.

you ever spent hours designing some code, then hours writing it, and then minutes testing it? except when you test it, you find that the most crucial part of the code doesn't work at all. in fact, it freezes the entire thing because of an infinite loop. you spend the next few hours debugging the program, and when you know what the problem is, you spend all night looking for a misplaced colon. finally, next morning when you're tired beyond belief, you find the offending colon about 20 lines away from where the problem showed up on the code, move it over one character from where it was, and test the code again. it works perfectly.

this happened to me when I was writing a psuedo-ATM machine from scratch... now extend this to the base form of an extremely complicated (in comparison) program, take into account that it is not just one person, but several groups and divisions of different companies that must coordinate, and the fact that all instances of the program must be set to arrive at the same time.

i'd be impressed by any content that gets released on time, and i'm not suprised when something gets delayed.

If I may add, are you actually talking about code? The toolset has been designed primarily to be used by the players with little or no programming knowledge at all. Code examples can be searched and recycled for other players to use.

We're talking about the devs, actually. I doubt you can do everything necessary for a storyline using only the toolset functions. Scripting is necessary, especially for implementing voice-overs.

I hope they're not. People need to rest. For the love of (insert chosen divinity, singular or plural) we're talking about DLC number, what, four? Depending on what came free with it? Everything else has worked great. This isn't even a big one. Not like it's a full expansion. There are no lives hanging in the balance here. No billion dollar deals about to explode. Does it suck? Yes. Probably not as much as, say, living in Haiti right now. Still though it's a bit of an inconvenience.

I'd hate to think that anyone is having to sacrifice their off-work time (and we all work for one reason: so we can afford to do what we want to do when we're not at work) and the businesses in question having to pay OT for the sake of a couple of days.

You know what I hope? I hope that not only did the people at BioWare take the weekend off but maybe, just MAYBE, managed not to be stressing over a release date for this DLC. Save your fear and stress for ME2 and the full expansion pack. Issues/delays with either....

Well, I may have to microwave a puppy.

I can almost hear the violins...

Poor poor bioware, victimized by evil customers that DARE theorize some hours of overtime for the coders after three missed release dates/windows and a massive screwup.
How dare they! :wizard:

Fanboy sauce is great for breakfast...

@Heptameron and Wishpig, you do realize that these guys have a contract on a scope of work agreed upon even agreeing to do any single DLC. lol

I notice you didn't answer the question of multiple languages and certification on 2 out of 3 platforms. And does your code work for every possible pc configuration as well? What kind of support do we get if it doesn't work on our machines?

No, links to such material do not belong on Bioware's forums.

From my understanding, working crazy hours is the norm in the game industry. However, there's more to the process than just Bio working on it and since they don't intend on giving any new info until there's info worth giving, we don't know where in the process it is.

Your understanding is wrong. Some bad companies work people like crazy, but then they at least lose all good people to better companies out there (one of which I have pleasure to work for) or (at worst) get sued like EA.

Overtime is counterproductive, bad management practice and really brings nothing of value in a long term.

To be back on topic, I hope they didn't work too much (if any) overtime and I'd definitely would not wish them to work long hours for any reason. If they did, I hope EA pays good release bonuses (at least)

I  didn't buy Return to Ostragar yet, but I am sure it is great and as soon as I finish my first playthrough, I am going to buy it right away.

BIWAERE SHOUD WORK LIEK DOGS AND GIV DLC FOR FREE CUZ CUSTEMOR IS ALL WAYS RIGHT!!1111oneone1!11eleven!!1

They should be working as any other people, since every job in this world can end up with some mistakes and some unplanned and unforeseen consequences (ooh reference to halflife). As any other jobs, they should work in normal hours or if they see fit according to their gannt charts, they may do overtime. But that's all.

I do hope you're beating your employees, BioWare. Everyone knows exhausted, utterly crushed and miserable people work better. And don't, oh say, screw up more. I also suggest cunning psychological warfare against them, so they know the consequences of mistakes. Switching the coffee machine between decaf and regular over a period of several weeks is also amusing. As is taking away a small number of desks and making them compete for working spaces and giving them targets they must meet by the end of the week, forcing them to work for their desk time. And you could have a big brother style eviction system in place where we, the customers, vote out the least amusing programmer each week. 24 hour surveilance too. This should run until RTO is released.

to be honest DAO is a great game hats off to bio, but they missed the boat to make the full potental of profit . I for one was in the middle of the game when they where supposed to release rto and failed ! I am nearing the end of my experience and the add on is almost pointless if i finish the game. For Me ! bio should have released all add ons in one package for 20 dollars it would have been a mini expantion with a total of about 3 hours

Wow people really really love bioware in this forum.

Why does asking a company to work hard on a date that they put out destroy families and utterly crush its employees
