Alright, so Dragon Age Origins is definitely my favorite fantasy game...

...however, the last time I was playing it...my computer died on me.

Since I no longer have a computer that can play the game...I've been thinking about just picking it up for the Xbox, even though it will be a completely different game on the Xbox.

I die inside a little everytime I think of a mods that I won't be able to use.

Anyways...besides the loss of all my mods...what is different about the game on the Console?

Pros and Cons if you could.

I started DAO originally on the xbox (didn't have a PC at the time that could run it). Now that I have a new desk top, I repurchased DAO a year ago, and am spoiled by all the mods. Having said that, I will give you a quick rundown on the differences, that I have noticed.

1) Graphics. Simply put, not terribly pretty on the xbox. It never really bothered me (except for the dwarf teeth...yeesh!), but it is somewhat noticeable. Especially if you are used to running texture mods and the like...

2) Bugged dialogue. Until I got DAO for the PC, and loaded a handful of mods that correct some of the dialogue/banter bugs, I didn't know what I was missing. Since you came from the PC version (and possibly run mods that correct for bugged dialogue), it might be quite noticeable for you.

3) Gameplay. If you have ever played vanilla (no gameplay mods), then it should be fine. It isn't as finely tuned as on the PC (at least from my point of view), but setting up tactics, micromanaging, using talents, ect.....not much difference.

I still had a lot of fun with DAO on the xbox (and I got to chill on the couch, while playing....not a luxury with the PC. At least for me.), but then I did start with the console version. I think you can still enjoy it though. If it has been some time since you played "vanilla", then it might feel new again. *shrug* ;)

lots of missing graphical items, even vanilla vs. vanilla. No banners at Ostagar, just the frames they hung on for the 360. ( I started on 360 and it was the first thing I wondered about was what they were. It was the PC version that had actual banners when I realized what those frame things were.

Tons of stuff like that.

The biggest thing that I didn't like about DAO on Xbox was the controls. It just doesn't work on a controller, just really awful. You could only have 8 ability "hotkeyed"(if you can really call it that on the console) compared to 20 or so on PC. Moving the camera around was a pain as well, where on computer you could zoom out very easily, right-click and move the camera. Gives much better battle control overall. Then of course what others have said, like graphics and mods.

I didn't know about the ability to dup anything on the console but fwiw, everytime I've tried any kind of "exploit" on the console, it eventually broke my game. Not worth it.

On the PC, you have the console. Talk about a gold dup. :)

You can but I shouldn't of mentioned it, it's easy enough to get gold.
