Do you like pointy ears? Then elf.

Rounded ears? : Human

You are forgetting hairstyle.  It is quite easy to make an Elf with hair covering the ears.

You are right.  I guess a new question is needed.

Do yu like short skinny people?  Play an elf.

Do you like people built within human averages?:  Play a human.

My avatar is proof :B Then again I downloaded a hair mod. :wizard:

EDIT: @ Sloth: Yeah, I picked elf for this character so she'd A) be short and B) have a reason to have a chip on her shoulder (city elf) lol

You know, I was a little surprised there wasn't a Templar or Apostate Origin...or even a Dalish Mage...I dunno, it seemed like they could've been smashed in there some how, like the Templar one could've easily fit in with the Mage storylines.

Annnyways, I went Human Mage...no real reason. I, like a few others, started the City Elf Origin, but couldn't get into it and restarted my game. First as a Human Noble, and then again as a Human Mage. I'll probably go for a Dalish next, or Dwarf Noble.

I know, I think it's strange that it doesn't get a reaction at all considering the huff it gets when its mentioned by anyone. lol

Lol, well I'll help you make your decsion. DWARF NOBLE! The majority seem to agree that the dalish origin kinda blew... BUT the majority (including the devs) will agree that the Dwarf Noble is the best.

Dwarf Noble really does, ironically, stand far above the rest of the origins in my book.

I agree, especially about the dalish mages, since the dalish dont follow human laws, it makes no sence for them to follow the circle of magi's laws either, plus i really like the dalish story so i think it would be interesting to see the dalish with their own mage story line

Are there any Dalish Magi in the Dalish Origin? I haven't started it yet, but I thought I remembered seeing Dalish with Mage's staffs in the game?

You can always go the bard/range route as a dwarf commoner if you don't want to worry about stealing aggro. I thought it was a lot of fun being a ranger with a wolf pet out and having dog in my party full time. (C'mon, you can't be a ranger and NOT have dog with you. =p)

As for the mage question, I had done both dwarf origins and was ready to play a mage since it was the last class I hadn't tried out. I decided on elf and after a while, I ended up regretting it. In my dwarf playthroughs, I got the sense of elf racism, but the mage origin wasn't really giving me a taste of that. So my elf mage was a bit sheltered having been in the tower her whole life, only got a couple comments here and there, but it made it really hard for me to relate to the city elves or the dalish elves since I wasn't from either culture. It was harder for me to figure out the character's motivations. I didn't even know what to tell Morrigan when she asked about my own mother. (Same question everyone gets at some point.) If I had to do it again, I would have gone with a generic human because the mage origin is as generic as it gets.

I just wish the Human Origin had something else besides Mage or Noble...I know there was supposed to be a Farmer/Commoner Origin, and they got rid of it, but I really wish they hadn't...it just seems really unbalanced.

There was supposed to be a barbarian origin, which would have been awesome.

It is hard to figure out why a human noble would become a rogue though... where did my human noble learn to pick locks and incoporate nut shots and throwing sand into people's eyes IN armed.

Since humans are some what shown as richy types, they could have added a nomadic human origin instead of a commoner one and that wouldn't have screwed up the human noble story at all, in my opinion...

I've come to tell myself they were bored as kids and taught themselves how to do it...like the stealth was due to not being able to listen to the Teyrn and a guest talk about something important/political, so they snuck around to listen in...as for the lockpicking, I'm not sure. xD

lockpicking could have been because kids hate to be told no, so when they're not aloud in a room they're gonna try twice as hard to get in, plus kids always have bad influences ; )

Yes, there are Dalish magi both in the origin and in the game. Sadly, we can't play one of them - just Circle Mage for any mage.

For mage when creating a character go elf because they have better bonuses and start with an extra spell.

Probably because he/she developed lockpicking skills trying to escape from a locked room listening to Brother Aldous' lectures or Mallol's sermons.  As for nutshots and throwing sand... it's probably all to get away from Nan.

Only if you make certain choices.

It's entirely possible to play through, spec'ed as a Blood Mage, and not have anyone make any sort of comment.

IB. Their poorly implanted, besides a few odd dialog comments here and there, the whole racism against elves isn't really that present. I played as an elf my first time around and really didn't notice that big of a deal.

I totally agree, humans get way better implants.  Image IPB

I agree that dwarf noble is the best origin story by a mile. I actually don't mind the dwarf commoner one either. Dalish isn't too bad, but there isn't a good follow on after you leave.

But I love my human females (anything) Esp with the more hairstyles mod - they just look hawt

I can see this, I love playing Dwarves but the whole Dwarf-Human relationship thing is a bit strange.

Should have made Oghren a romance option and added a female Dwarf too!
