I think it would be best if the movie were made entirely in 3D. Like the cinematic trailer for Mass Effect 2. That way, Shepard can still be the same as in the game, same voice actor and face.

Edit:
Would be awesome if they could add an option to Blu-Ray so you can choose Shepards gender.

I'm glad to see i'm not the only one who thinks CG is the way to go. Atleast with CG you can make the characters look the same and obviously sound the same using the same voice actors. Anything but this is just total failure.

Yes the game is presented in a Cinematic way be when you stop and think about it there is too much story for a movie though i myself am very excited to see what is done with the movie i expect that much of our beloved story will be removed should it come out the story is more suited for a TV series than a Movie Trilogy. On a latter note Sam Worthington would make an excellent Shepard if he is cast in the part

I dont want to pee in anyone punch but
Bioshock-cancelled
Gears of War- Cancelled
God of War-cancelled
Catlevania-Cancelled
Metal Gear Solid-Cancelled
Halo-cancelled
It does not seem likely that this movie will get made, plus can you imagine a movie the scope of ME and the budget that is needed to bring it to the big screen properly.

I was going to post this. Well, minus a couple of game-to-film adaptations that I didn't know about, but still. Didn't know they were considering a BioShock film. Shame it was cancelled.

Mass Effect highly unlikely to be made into a film. It would be comparatively easy to translate most of the above games into films, and they were all cancelled - do you really think a film about a game where there are dozens of potential plot lines and thousands of different Shepards is going to hit the big screen? I know there is a canon story and canon Shepard, but a lot of people are going to want to see things that will not be included in the canon storyline.

Addendum: It's a long game. I doubt they could fit Eden Prime [which would make a great introductory segment], the Citadel, Noveria, Feros, Therum, Virmire, Ilos and the battle of the Citadel into a 3 hour film - at least not to any acceptable standard. Eden Prime could be relatively brief, as long as lots of guns are fired; the Citadel can also be a swift job, just include the bar fight and have Wrex/Garrus already attacking it. They'd pretty much have to merge Noveria and Feros into one mission, with the Thorian/creepers and geth as the primary adversaries [the rachni are all too similar to the bugs from Starship Troopers and the aliens from... Aliens - they would need to focus on the more original adversarial agencies]; Therum would have to be reduced to an encounter on the Citadel - Liara T'Soni could be visiting the Citadel and then placed under arrest for being implicated by her mother's involvement, leaving it to Shepard, as a Spectre, to get her out under his authority.

Having chopped off some time by amalgamating the obtaining of Liara into the initial mission on the Citadel and the obtaining of the Prothean cipher and the mu relay's location [remember, the Thorian could easily have known that too] into one mission, that only leaves Virmire, Ilos and the battle of the Citadel. Even cutting Ilos down to an infiltration mission, dropping the team ahead of Saren, only staying on Ilos to have the chat with Vigil, there is still way too much for a film to cover in any detail - and the fans will want some detail. We don't need side quests, though maybe momentary "cameo" moments with people like Inamorda and Lorik Qui'in in the background while Shepard conducts his primary business.

There is the additional problem that a lot of backstory has to be established in order for things like the Krogan army and the genophage cure will actually have an impact on people unfamiliar with the series. A lot of those left-of-the-dialogue-wheel chats will need to be included. It will take a lot of work, as these things always do, and it is likely to be cancelled before it is completed.

Indeed.

Let's look at those NOT cancelled:

DUNGEON SIEGE
ALONE IN THE DARK
POSTAL
FAR CRY
HOUSE OF THE DEAD

.
.
.
.
.

Holy crap! They're all Uwe Boll movies!

We need Uwe Boll to direct MASS EFFECT! Then for sure it will get made! And it will suck like an Electrolux. And we can all go back to talking about somethin' else.

The FALLOUT movie, I guess.

well its being produced by LEGENDARY PICTURES!!! they make every great movie/adaptation, and the plot for Mass Effect can easily be done for a movie, short Eden Prime intro (Jenkins dies, Meet Ash, Saren kills Nihlus,
Fight way to becon), Arrival at Citadal (recruitments Garrus works fine, but Wrex might need a not so Mission based one,Tali works  spectre induction), then the Planets (on a note Therum should be taken out as it is not central to plot except where you get Liara and she can be placed some where else) Noveria can stay the same (boss fight with Benezia can be taken down to a small shootout), Feros may be some trouble but re workable, Virmire is an obvious keep. illos is a must very touching moment with vigil, but Final Battle may need to be re-done, actually just take out Skele-saren and your fine just have it end with Shepard vs Saren and Sovereigns remains come crashing through killing Saren, Should run 3 hours, not sure how they are gonna do the team aspect as Garrus and Wrex are best suited for any situation most likely Shepard will use whole team in fights (at least on Virmire anyway) thus Shepard hears all their opinions and allows them to develop personalities.

Not saying it cant by done it just when you look at the track record of successful current gen games they get the fight bought the movie sits in dev. Limbo and never gets made. think of the las t few Sci-fi Movie that created a entire Universe (Chornicles of Riddick, and Serenity are the only two that come time They look cheap) So ask yourself whose going to spend Star Wars Money to make a movie based on a videogame.

Triple exclamation point aside, these are the people who also vomited JONAH HEX, NINJA ASSASSIN, LADY IN THE WATER on movie screens.

In any case, a studio does not quality (or lack thereof) insure. Crap studios sometimes hit one out of the park and plenty studios with "the hot hand" release a string of turds.

I don't expect that MASS EFFECT will in fact survive all the way to the screens and that if it does, it will be anything other than just another bloated FX reel with pretty people striking poses and uttering inane one-liners. See: TRANSFORMERS.

STAR WARS was less expensive than CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK.

As for the sequels, they sure looks expensive but only EMPIRE looks good.

I was amazed how much more dynamic and thrilling the space battle in SERENITY was compared to the opening of REVENGE OF THE SITH, especially considering the former was made on the fraction of the latter's marketing costs. For my $ vapid expensive entertainment is worth *less* than involving, low-budget fare.

The first few seasons of BSG are a perfect example.

Also compare: the Palapatine "come to the dark side" nonsense VS Holland's last scene in ANGEL: THE SERIES 1.21. If you want to see how an ambivalent man can be seduced to embrace true evil, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better episode. Made for roughly what drops to the floor when George Lucas turns his pockets inside-out.

So since this has stopped being about an ME movie and it's a bit of a necro anyway, I think I'll lock it.
