But it's fun to see a new player play - should have heard him in his first platinum match - "banshees already".

As soon as you feel comfortable, get away from Rio. Go onto a map like White, lots of cover you can hug and good for quick matches CQC style.
There is also Giant that dumdum posted above, Giant is a good map for learning the mechanics and lets you play pretty much anything without gimping yourself and the spawns are pretty awesome on Giant too (unlike a certain other map)
Take your time to slowly start building the manifest, commons/uncommons should max out fairly quickly within the first week of playing. Once your onto rares, you should be capable of doing pretty much anything. Depending on if you enjoy the power creep like I do, or if you follow the scrubbery of BSN, once you unlock the dark lord Reeger, you should be good to just run around and destroy everything without much worry of dying ever again.

You shoulda let me play with y'all! I would have no problem helping get your friend through some Gold games, especially after some of the PUGs I ran into yesterday? Even just starting out, your friend's probably better than them. Next time you guys are on, hit me up and I'll run with you guys and help get him some $$$

Good advice.
Giant and Dagger are my two favourite maps. Dagger has room aplenty to manoeuvre in (it's also an upstairs-downstairs ting); likewise with Giant. I dunno; I guess I just feel pretty confident on those maps in particular since I know them well.
I guess FB White is the fan-favourite - and for good reason. It also seems to be the most popular with the random generator (as evidenced by the fact that it's always the first map I complete in map mastery
I think we've figured thus far that your favourite map is Goddess. You said you liked Ghost too, but you were making it harder on yourself by setting it to the Hazard version. (I keep remembering that time we tortured ourselves with geth on that map
You really need to start unlocking more characters though - totally my fault for getting you into bad habits with the store

I appreciate the offer.
Didn't you say yesterday that you got stuck on the joining screen? I think I was hosting; I'd like to think that my internet connection is pretty good, but I wouldn't know since I rarely host.

I too enjoy Dagger. I do a lot of Dagger (the tower of power) platinum runs with a friend I coached a while back, we both snipe on that map, never have to move from the tower spot ever again, it's good for easy kills. The only downside is people who shake the screen can be annoying, and the aim assist on consoles doesn't help you guys neither (the joys of mustard races!)

Thanks Belahzur, good advice
Ah yes my bronze solo effort on Ghost hazard with geth 2nd day playing the game (totally my idea), not good!
Remember though I've got some good beginner weapons out of spectre packs, so it hasn't been a waste.

That's right, I did. Hopefully next time it works so I can show you my 133t boy scout backpacking.
