DA:I COmpanions

I have to agree that the dog should be a summoned character in the style of DA2 rather than the character slot blockage that it was in DA:O, but as the dog is one of the series identifiers in the same way that Bodahn and Sandal are then surely it has to be in the game.
Obviously there has to be a resolution for Morrigan and the God-child but hopefully that will be played out with Morrigan as an NPC and not a party member. I hope that there isn't an extended farewell to The Warden and Hawke, I've played them and and I'm done with the pair of them; I'd quite happily see them drop off the edge of a cliff with hands gripped round each others throats in an epic fit of ego driven fury. Isn't it time for a radically different new installment for the series that ties up loose ends from the last two games but doesn't slavishly rehash past successes and sometimes failures of the series.
What I'd really like to see is the end of romance-able characters. In the DA and the ME universes it doesn't work. Clunky awkward dialogue consisting of a couple of sentences spread across the game until we're "treated" to a cut scene of fumbling in underwear before the inevitable fade to black. Either make the romance element much more believable or drop it altogether.

I would prefer that the identity of the companions be kept secret. Knowing who they are in advance might bias our roleplaying when we first meet them.
I think its inevitable that we will be able to tell them apart from the other NPCs since they tend to be so distinct, but a little secrecy would be fine.

I would count that as yet another argument against having a unique look for each companion.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

It's not just that though, they tend to have big entrances as well and make it pretty well known. I think the only companions in Dragon Age that don't are Oghren, Leliana and Sten.

A few fakeouts would be good.

1. Warrior - Cassandra
2. Warrior - Iron Bull
3. Mage - Saarebas, maybe a female one (a Qunari mage like Ketojan.)
4. Mage - Yavana, a witch of the wilds and Morrigan's 'sister'
5. Rogue - Dalish elf
6. Rogue - Leliana
Add another 3 at most, one for each class:
1. Rogue - Varric
2. Mage - Dwarf mage (since maybe the magic has come back?)
3. Warrior - Darkspawn companion
I'd also like another 'secret companion' near the end of the game: maybe you have to decide between Yavana and Morrigan, and if you kill Yavana, you get Morrigan.

I love your mage options. I don't know much about her sister but I think it would be cool

I feel morrigan, Alistair, and Varic will all just be part of the story, and not your actual party.

Plus I want old Awakening Anders back! (but I goes that would make DA2's plotline seem pointless)
