I just don't like the no that they added for Vader in this scene. 

 

 

Eh, that's kinda dumb. 

 

You know, what I hope is that Disney releases the un-tampered with, theatrical releases of the original trilogy on blu-ray/dvd. The Special Editions were....passable but annoying at times. But the newest release like the vid you showed.....Eh, I'm just not feeling it, lol.

An obvious twist that I've been suspecting since the first teaser trailer.

 

(And the Lightsaber with Crossguard kinda harkens back to the first poster from New Hope, where Luke's Lightsaber had similar beams in it's halo)

 

Still, pulling a Revan and having him be the guy behind the mask would be a fun little reveal.

 

I can't lie, I would want to see Luke as the villain.

on a lighter and more positive note, the Episode VII trailer, as old as it is, is still getting raucous and appreciative cheers in theaters, going by the Age of Ultron showing I saw last night

Luke falling to the dark side is completely out of character. Its like having Yoda or Obi Wan become a Sith. It was one of the worst ideas of the Expanded Universe, and one that should never find its way into a Star Wars film.

 

Return of the Jedi should be the final word on Luke's force alignment. "You have failed, Your Highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

Ah, yes, the Infinities stories for the original trilogy. I wonder why they never did Infinities stories for the prequels, as well as anime stories for Episodes II and III.

what, the Episode VII stuff or Age of Ultron?

the crowd was mostly knowledgeable nerds (a lot of us study and/or work at a nearby university), and/or people who just got done with thirsty thursdays at the locals (and a mix of the two) so everybody knew what they were seeing for the most part or could plausibly fake it

behind Episode VII, the trailers that got the most love were Spectre and Jurassic World; since it was an IMAX showing, we also got a six-minute (or whatever) clip directly from Tomorrowland, which looked, like, action-y, which (positively) surprised a lot of people who thought "meh disney movie"

Age of Ultron was great fun - not a revelation like the first film was in that it wasn't particularly surprising, but a well-made, exciting, entertaining action film with typically classic Joss Whedon dialogue and fun choreography.

Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were surprisingly good in the movie after the, uh, somewhat wooden performances in Godzilla. They worked pretty well together as a team.

Getting to see a lot more of Clint and Natasha was great, especially because they don't have their own films. Clint's family was sweet, even if I was a little nitpicky about his farm stuff (that Deere tractor is terrible). Linda Cardellini... As for Natasha, I was okay with the SS Widow-Hulk; it went a lot smoother in the film than it did in that godawful interview.

There were a ton of lovely little side references that I absolutely loved. In the famous Mjolnir lifting scene, Tony makes a crack about potentially becoming the ruler of Asgard, and suggests that he'd reinstitute primae noctis, which is my favorite made-up European medieval legal thing. The gf and I - although not a whole lot of other people - had a good laugh. Uncultured barbarians. Oh, Tony makes a great Banksy reference later in the film, because of course he does.

"The Origin of the Vision" is one of the few Marvel storylines that I actually know inside and out, so everything about JARVIS and Ultron and Paul Bettany was pretty sweet. Well, actually, on the subject of Ultron in general...I liked him a lot. I mean, the whole "AI created to protect the world, attributes war to humanity, tries to wipe out humanity in response" thing isn't exactly new, although it's more in-depth than Ultron's original backstory was. But it was done well, and done believably within the logic of the MCU. Ultron was a credible, believable threat in a way that the Chitauri kind of weren't, and he was just as fun and funny as Loki was.

I was surprised that they integrated their future films relatively seamlessly. Apart from the tesseract-is-the-Mind-Stone thing that everybody saw coming, and the obligatory Thanos post-credits appearance (not nearly as awesome as the previous ones), we also got Ulysses Klaue (played by Andy Serkis!) as a South African arms dealer with tons of chutzpah (and just enough weird) who supplies Ultron with vibranium, gets in the middle of a fight between the Avengers and Ultron, and has his forearm ripped off (wonder what's gonna replace it? hur hur). I'm already excited for Black Panther, and so was the rest of the theater - all the Wakanda stuff got a lot of cheers.

The Stan Lee cameo was surprisingly still fresh and still funny, as a D-Day veteran at Stark's party who imbibes some of Thor's millennium-aged mead with his old squadmates ("nothing compared to Omaha Beach!") and gets up absolutely rekt.

Oh, and as of the end of the film, the Avengers team is 2 black men (Falcon and War Machine), 2 white women (Scarlet Witch and Black Widow), 1 white man (Cap), and 1 android (Vision). That's pretty okay.

There are nitpicks (there are always nitpicks). Ultron goes back to use Strucker's base from the beginning of the film, even though NATO supposedly takes Strucker into custody; apparently nobody thinks to pack up Strucker's old gear or keep an eye on the place. Pietro's death scene was okay, but I wish he'd been memorialized more. Fifteen minutes earlier, Clint was grumbling to himself about how he was a little punk and making a joke about "accidental" friendly fire and how no one would ever know; then Pietro sacrifices his life to save Clint and a Sokovian kid and the occasion just goes by without much reflection at all (except by Wanda who goes apes**t on Ultron's "main" body). Clint shows basically zero emotion other than exhaustion and acceptance, and for a guy that had just gotten touchy-feely with Wanda earlier and who was shown being a family man before that, it just didn't click.

Oh, and the unnamed African country from the middle of the movie - the Klaw confrontation and Hulk vs. "Veronica" (hur hur because he already has a Betty) - apparently speaks English and no other language, and is inhabited primarily by white people (especially the police). So that was weird, especially juxtaposed with the scenes in Seoul which did a pretty decent job of looking like they were actually happening in Korea.

Overall, though, it's a solid A-. Enjoyable moviefilm, well worth the price of admission.
