That gave me more vicarious pleasure than is probably healthy.

Far too good for Jedi scum, needs a red blade.

I love the small wooden insert. it gives it an elegant look.

Looks like something a Wookiee would use.

The Force has awoken in him.

These lightsabers look weird. It seems their makers have some kind of perversion...

I agree a red blade suits it better. It looks crafted from some kind of limb. Doesn´t seem like something a Jedi would use to craft their signature weapon as to what it´s suppossed to stand for.
Curved handles I think come from Dooku´s saber, as Lee was used to that kind of grip in his fencing style.

It's Tenel Ka Djo's lightsaber. She was a Dathomiri witch and one of the Young Jedi Knights of Skywalker's New Jedi Order, and she used one of the teeth of her grandmother's pet rancors for the hilt.

I was debating on whether or not to totally EU-geek out and post the same detail, but I wasn't 100% sure if it truly was her saber.

I'm...pretty sure. It's the right color, it looks similar to EU pictures, and there aren't a whole lot of other rancor-blade sabers in the lore. If the saber isn't meant to be Tenel Ka's specifically, it was at the very least inspired by it.
Double-checking, it seems that the image has shown up on tumblr tagged "Tenel Ka cosplay", so there's that too.

Yep! Which sounds like a good idea in practice but is utterly incomprehensible for somebody that's still expected to do a ton of fighting. You'd need more fingers than she had to count the number of times somebody took advantage of her missing arm in combat.
Those books were so awful. Even the German translator couldn't make them suck less. But, y'know, READ ALL THE THINGS...so I bought YJK, and The Crystal Star, and Darksaber, and The Glove of Darth Vader, and all the rest of the dreck that Bantam pooped out in the nineties. I mean, there were some gems, like Thrawn and X-Wing, but Sturgeon's Law was in full effect.

Yeah, they were generally good - especially Traitor, but I am a Matt Stover fangirl so take that with a grain of salt - but that was after Del Rey took over publishing from Bantam. Quality generally tightened up after that and there were fewer products that were outright awful.
