Don't waste your time in this thread then. Let us enjoy our "crap" which is anything that doesn't look or feel like Episode V (in the eyes of the old school Star Wars fans).

:? I don't think you read my post correctly.

The Empire Strikes Back is the best Star Wars film of all time.

Still, I'm hopeful that the new film will rival it for that title. Or at the very least that it will be of similar quality as A New Hope or Return of the Jedi.

I'd like it to be the Timothy Zahn series starting with Heir to the Empire followed by Dark Force Rising then Last Command as that is the series that makes the most sense as a continuation, IMHO.

Hate to break it to you, but the Star Wars Expanded Universe is non-canon.

Who wouldn't?

But given that Zahn's work wasn't put on TV as a b rank kid show, that likely won't be.

Agreed, Among the worst things the EU ever put out, including the Ewok Christmas special...it's up there with the "clone wars animated series"

Anything post-Crucible would have been interesting to explore on film. But it's not gonna happen, unfortunately.

I'm suddenly reminded of ME oddly enough.

I'm drawing a blank for SW at the moment, What's "Post Crucible?"

Crucible is the latest NOVEL in the Star Wars EU chronology, taking place about 40 years after Return of the Jedi.

Chewbacca is coming back. I've been seeing a lot of receding hairline jokes, though. Lol.

Also ugh Tatooine again? I hope not. 5 out of 6 episodes have visited Tatooine already. They have an entire galaxy to explore, why not explore it instead of going back to the same old barren rock?

I wanted to like TFU.. I really did. It had SO much promise; all the amazing artists & visual designers. The look and backstory (or lack thereof) of Starkiller was awesome, and the premise was even kind of reasonable.

Then I played it.

I realized this was a slow-burn reveal to a kick in the nuts for any true SW fan.

Now, I am no Lucas apologist. I hated certain parts of the prequels. There is no denying that the acting and writing (direction) was just beyond pandering in some scenes. However, they also satisfied me on many levels.

This game's story was trying to turn my beloved Star Wars universe into some contrived, Matrix-esque anime comic book. Which is an alright concept.. but that is not what I paid for. I suppose KotOR set the bar entirely too high...

This is not mentioning the ridiculous liberties the plot takes with Vader/Anakin, Starkiller & the force itself.

The nail in the coffin for me were the goddamned QTEs. That was it. I was checked out at that point.

There was an unclear announcement today by Disney saying that they are not abandoning the EU, but not sticking to it either.... so... yeah.
