Presumably it's a cannibalized part from another droid, but that's really odd, because in the entire series from beginning to end, you never ever see a protocol droid that is anything but a chrome silver or gold.

Maybe it was from another droid, but repurposed because times are even more tough/resources are more scarce? Maybe we see him take a bad hit in the movie and need a replacement? He's pretty old too, he's probably in his 60's or 70's. You are right, it is weird.

It's a printing/color error. Seems too odd to be legit. Just my gut feeling

I wasn't even aware that there are rumors about a new Star Wars game from Bioware. KOTOR 3 pls be true.

Though to be honest I'll just take A Star Wars single player RPG at this point, doesn't need to be related to KOTOR. I just want to feel that magic again of exploring new worlds with a cast of memorable characters, training and building your first lightsaber... While I'm apparently in the minority that does like SWTOR for what it is, it's just not the same. I'd actually really like a game with the basic KOTOR/Bioware formula but set post-ROTJ.

I do have some slightly good news, but I'll start with some bad news.

The bad news: that since Kotor is Legends, Kotor 3 is really unlikely given how Legends has been abandoned.

The good news: that Disney has said that Legends might be revisited in a few years. Also, Obisidian Entertainment wants to make Kotor 3.

More bad news: the fact that EA has the exclusive rights to Star Wars video games for 10 years (8 or 9 at this point).

More good news: Even if Kotor 3 doesn't get made, Obsidian has an idea for a Single Player Star Wars RPG set between Episode 3 and 4: http://www.ign.com/a...-old-republic-3

Most bad news: Disney will probably put the Star Wars game rights up for bid again after the EA contract expires and there is no way that Obsidian (or any company worth a damn) could afford them.

I'm personally disappointed that Disney continues to churn out mobile Star Wars video games. I'm hoping that whatever Visceral is working on is good and single player. I also hope the Bioware rumor pans out and is an idea like Kotor.

The plot had a lot of moments I personally detested. I hated the boss at the end which felt cheesy, I disliked Shepard dying without a purpose, I also disliked his resurrection being so undetailed (they could have really wowed me with something new here), gathering companions was the main part of the game, but its something we do in every Bioware game ever. I liked the suicide mission and the alternate ending to where Shepard dies and Joker ends up reporting to the Illusive Man, those two things were all that really wowed me in the game. Ironically, Mass Effect 2 has no real effect on the trilogy, they could have told 1 and 3 without it; it was very stand-alone.

Mass Effect 1 had a sense of magic and wonder to it as well as exploration and consequence. The villain was well-done and his motivations were understandable. The same could be said about Kotor and Dragon Age: Origins (replace villain with Logain), whereas Mass Effect 2, 3, Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition failed to capture that for me.

Spot on for me!

And because it's a Star Wars thread (and I like to rant a little against Mass  Effect whenever I get the chance... ) lt's see how "Empire strikes back" might have looked like if Mas sEffect 2 - writers would have been responsible?

First minutes in, we see Han gets frozen in carbonite, presumably dead. But gladly only another five minutes in and he is rescued again, with no real impact on the story. Luke is still something like a Jedi, but nobody really cares anymore. They are also no longer part of the Rebels (well, not officially at least), but have joined a group of Bounty hunters. Their mission is made clear by Jabba the Hutt (their new boss) to fight in some remote part of the galaxy against some alien species threatening the trade lanes there. Or space-taxes, or some shite.... The Empire is mentioned now and then, but again nobody really seems to care (though sometimes characters say how important it is to fight the evil Empire - only not now, we got less important things to do after all...)

Besides Han and Luke we also get like a dozen of new characters introduced (while Leia gets axed, though she will be part of the blue-ray-special edition deleted scenes ^^), each with a side-plot that actually leads nowhere, and the robotic voice of Vader is sometimes heard offscreen taunting our heroes, implying some connection of these aliens to the Empire! Until we eventually get a climactic battle against the giant death robot of the strange aliens who are obviously indeed  in-league with the Empire after all! Hooray! But wait, Jaba betrays us, stuff explodes and almost nothing what just happened will play any role whatsoever in part 3! Hooray again!

I'm glad legends will be revisited. I'm not glad that EA has the rights to Star Wars video games for almost a decade!

I feel like I know why they killed Shepard off at the beginning, but they should have put the story ahead of trying to incorporate the gameplay mechanic into the story. Customizing your characters looks mid-game has never been a big deal. The reason I believe they did it was so that you had an excuse to customize him again that worked within the realm of the story (In one you had the data being corrupted. I don't remember what 3 did, if it did anything at all). While it is a neat idea, they ended up dedicating too much story around it, they let it dictate the direction of the story.

The thing is, they really didn't need to go that far. Terrible injuries and a coma would have worked just as well, they didn't need to jump the shark into resurrection territory.

It was, for me, a wasted chance ... at least if they had really, really focused parts of the story on this. I mean she was DEAD! how damn cool storytelling could this have lead to, but it more or less gets brushed over, and I remember only a rather short reference to it in ME3. Yeah, they only did it for shock-value of the ME2-trailer (generate soem buzz), and justification (for no reason) to recreate a new Shepard and move ahead in time for two years or so...

I think it could have been cooler to put Shep's death at the end of the suicide mission ... I mean, even if you did everything right, managed everything and all companions made it: Shep would ALWAYS DIE! ... Or did she...? Yes, she did, no breathing-thing or little clue ... at least not at first. Then Shep returns in ME3 (yeah, who would have thought otherwise, but hey, it would have made for a nice marketing-campaign and a good way to start the story ... Babylon 5 did it with Commander...Sinclair on Zahadum etc...

It sounds arrogant, but the Mass Effect in my head is a bit cooler than the one we got. I bet I am not the only delusioned amateur fanfic-fan enough to think that way...

Ok, ok. Enough about Shepard.

It's trivia time:

How many lightsabers does Anakin/Vader go through in the six films? (not counting training sabers, etc.)

Damn!

Well, the answer to my question was 5.

0 in ep.1, two in attack o ye olde clones, (i am counting the one he borrows) 1 in ROTS, and one in A New Hope & One in Return of the Jedi
