If you want to see good reviews and analysis of the prequels then you should hit up Lorerunner on youtube. Actually goes in depth and talk about both the good and bad elements. Yes the prequels are lacking, but they are ok movies if you can look past the nitty gritty and midichlorians!

I thought they were good for what they were, entertaining sci-fi films that covered the pre-Darth Vader years.

I'm always shocked by how much people like ROTS, because I think it's just awful garbage. I mean, I laughed for a solid 5 minutes when Palpatine randomly transformed into ... whatever that was, but I don't think that was Lucas's intent.
For me, it's ESB = ANH >> ROTJ >>>>>>>>>>>>......>>>> TPM (Phantom Edit) >>> TPM (theatrical cut) =AOTC = ROTS.

Revenge of the Sith was great for me, It was deep, emotional and did a great job of conveying Anakin's fall. As for the fan edits, I really don't like them.

I thought RotS was inferior to all the movies of the original trilogy. But I still enjoyed the film, which is something I couldn't say for TPM and AotC. With both of those films I felt I had wasted my money. Despite enjoying RotS I though it was brought down a bit however by poor casting decisions Lucas had made earlier in that trilogy. Hayden Christiansen was terrible casting, and Natalie Portman continued to give the worst performance of her career. The two of them had zero chemistry.
I haven't seen any of the fan edits yet. I'll have to check them out.

TPM becomes a barely watchable mediocre movie with an awesome duel at the end. Essentially, when you cut out almost all of Skywalker Sr. and Jar Jar you get an poorly paced movie with OK-ish acting.
ROTS wasn't very enjoyable for me, but I just didn't like or get the action sequences. I wasn't and didn't follow the EU, so when you get to things like lightsaber wielding asthmatic robot with an exposed heart, you're not really winning me over.
The only think that was good about ROTS IMO was the scene where Vader executes Dooku in cold blood, in an inversion of what Luke does in ROTJ. Then you get to the stuff where Palpatine asks Vader to go off and kill some kids, and he just shrugs it off...

But what about that amazing dialogue?
Anakin: You are so . . . beautiful.
Padme: It's only because I'm so in love.
Anakin: No, it's because I'm so in love with you.
Brilliant stuff, I say. ![]()
But in all seriousness, I'd mostly agree with your ranking. I would probably put AotC below RotS, just because the dialogue is so cringe-inducing that the film becomes absolutely painful to sit through, as opposed to boring and unintentionally humorous. The RLM guys did an especially good job eviscerating the filmmaking craft of these movies: The way that dialogue scenes are shot and edited together is some of the most uninspired filmmaking you'll ever see.
I think JJ is in a really lucky spot with this movie. It's Star Wars, so people will see it pretty much no matter what, but the nearest point of comparison is the prequels. If The Force Awakens is even minimally competent, people will probably love it.

Nothing compares to the: "Stop it my hands are dirty", "My hands are dirty too." Those guys do nothing more than slander George Lucas. They're legitimate criticisms towards the prequels, but I find nothing new or original that they said that hasn't already been said over and over again.

Oh, dear lord, I forgot about the dialogue. Yeah, you're right. AoTC has to flip with RoTS as the worst of the lot, becuase those scenes... *shudder*
In my defence I haven't watched this garbage movie since the one time in theatres. (Also, I love RLM).

One thing I forgot to mention, I love how people said that George Lucas was uninspired making the Prequels, nevermind the fact that he was engrossed in it according to the people behind the scenes. People actually believe everything that guy says?

Its a shame he didn't stick to his original idea of Endor being the Wookie homeworld, and it being Wookies that defeat the Imperials. The Wookies are furballs just like the Ewoks, but at least they are physically powerful (no suspension of disbelief needed for a Wookie killing a Stormtrooper in hand-to-hand) and use guns.
Also it was kind of lazy to recycle the Death Star plot. While the Death Star battle was fun, Lucas basically slapped ANH's ending onto RotJ.
Its funny now but I remember in the run up to the release of TPM people saying they hoped it would at least be better than RotJ. After TPM people were hoping AotC would be at least half as good as RotJ.
On that note I agree with In Jorji's earlier statement about the bar being set low after the prequels, and moviegoers likely walking away happy if it The Force Awakens turns out to even be a minimally competent piece of filmmaking.

For me, it starts with with the Clone Wars series followed up by Revenge of the Sith. And then the Original trilogy.
It's a good thing those were all of the movies released and nothing else.

The problem with RotJ isn't that a less advanced people defeat more technologically advanced invaders (and really when you watch RoTJ they mostly don't, anyway). It's that the Ewoks are a joke. The problem is from a directing/execution POV, rather than a writing or even scripting POV.
I didn't actually mind the Death Star plot being recycled as much. It was a really cool sequence from start to finish. A bit lazy, I guess. But fun.
