Honestly since the PT was suppose to be about Anakin being a great Jedi and turning to the dark side they should've started it off in The Clone Wars already happening like the Rebellion was already going in the OT. Episode 3 may have had some bad lines, looking at the romantic lines there, but I feel it was the best of the PT. Only Episode 1 had the Darth Maul fight and Episode 2 only had that epic battle at the end, otherwise they didn't really stand out that much in my opinion.

I said this once but I would be open for Disney to completely redo the PT properly.

It's a waste of time and it'll further alienate the fanbase.

Err the Phatom Menace was showed us the origins of Anakin and the rise of Sidious. It also planted the seeds of the Clone Wars.

But did we really need to know where Anakin came from? I sure didn't.

In order to understand how he became the arrogant controlling Jedi yes.

Keep in mind that. slaves like Shmi Skywalker is bought and sold on auction within Hutt Space and not solely on Tatioone. It is true that Anakin is a slave that was 9 years old on Tatioone. I don't know if he and his mama always been on Tatioone with Watto and I do remember that he mentions a Hutt.

Does anyone know when that Star Wars book is suppose to come out? The new official EU book that bridges Episode 6 to 7, of course I think its the first book of many that will do that lol.

So what? no, we do NOT need to know how Anakin was as a cutsey little child, we didn't know anything about Luke either as he was a toddler, or how he managed puberty (probably with hitting on girls from Toshi Station, energy-converters, sure ^^). If you want to show us on the silver-screen how Vader fell from grace don't show us how he was pod-racing, use the damn screen-time to make us CARe about him, show us excitng adventures he is part of, how laughs, fights, loves without being a mopey little ******, so when he starts losing it we CARE! Nobody really cares for children on the screen, that's scientifically proven ^^

And we surely need not an entire movie for that and Sidious overly convoluted and fruitless plot-schemes I mean I still have no real clue what Palpy wanted to achieve with this whole treaty-plan, and how this treaty wasn't null and void when Amidala is forced to sign it. If you want a war, just let the Jedi return right after the scroll-text return to the council, or send them their charred remains Or even better, just use the tme of this whole trade-federation-scam-story and show us how the clones came into existence???...I mean instead of you know, start this mysterious clone-wars only at the very end of Episode 2 and...have it all but ended in the beginning of Episode 3...with Grievous appearing like a rabbit out of a wizzard's hat...*shakes head*

Nope, nobody can convince me otherwise, Phantom Menace was the biggest mistake in Star Wars, was unecessary from a story point of view, and would have needed to be totally different for the following movies to be better. I could even accept Jar Jar Binks, if only the movie around that fool would have had a plot and characters that actually made me care for them...(I can bear the Ewoks, but only because the rest of the movie is good...)

Anakin fear of loss and a desire for control, stems from leaving his mother and growing up as a slave on Tatooine. The Podracing scene was to demonstrate Anakin's skill in the force. Well considering that you don't want to be convinced, I'll won't engage with you further on the other things.......

I also feel that way a bit but not as strongly, just its clear now than ever that Episode 3 should've been the start of the PT or with us already in full thrust in the Clone Wars like the OT did with the Rebellion. I mean would the OT be good still if they shown us how it was started?

Annakin was the only human able to pod race.  He had to have force abilities to do that because of the speed at which those things went and the reaction time needed to do stuff.  Which begs the question why the other pod racers were not force sensitive or did the alien pod racers have faster reflexes?

Actually that doesn't make a whole lot of sense now does it?

Humans are pretty lame on the evolutionary scale. So yeah all the other aliens probably had better senses and reflexes that humans don't. Also some species of aliens are naturally force sensitive so they too could have had reflexes naturally aided by the force.

The CGI creatures would be nice if it would only be placed in the background. Does everyone forget that the point of CGI was to make it look convincing alongside practical effects, nowadays?

Aside from those up-close CGI scenes (ugh, Jabba) and Greedo, I thought the revisions in the trilogy were okay for the most part.

Good lord, I forgot how terrible they made Obi-wan's monster yell on the Blu-ray. Bad change before, beyond laughable now.

I don't really mind most of the revisions.

This one in particular was pretty good.

Though Disney should really release the original OT non-cgi version. I'd like to have both just for the hell of it.

They did a limited DVD release that had both the original cuts and the the 97 cgi updates back in 20XX. Which thankfully I have them, because IIRC all releases since have been the updated versions.

Indeed. The audio and video quality are crappy on those discs (they're taken from the laserdiscs), but it's better than the alternatives.

Yeah I'd also like the OT re-scanned into 4k format...

I don't think so. The Blu-Ray's as far as I'm aware still have the shitty changes.

Yup, and they're the only versions available on the format.

For now.
