Korriban is still canon as The Clone Wars team came up with the explanation that its true name was forgotten due to time and renamed as Morriband when it was rediscovered by the Republic. The Clone Wars team didn't even want to change the name, they only did so because George Lucas insisted on it being called Morriband.
Yeah Korriban just has a better ring to it.

and it's silly to change something that has been in use for 15-20 years XD

Ex-Emperor George enjoying his powers one last time before he retired into the outer-rim...?
Doesn't make much sense to me, but on the other hand, it also often bothers me how things and names thousands of years old are always staying unchanged in the Star Wars universe...considering how much names of places etc change in our real world (e.g. Byzantium, Constantinople, Istanbul...) I can live with that little change, it even sounds alike at least. As long as he didn't change Korriban to Jarjarisbestooine ...

The only problem I have with the explanation is that there are Galactic Records and the Republic from the films is the same as the one from The Old Republic timeline which means that they still should have known about Korriban because of said Galactic Records, even if Palpatine had somehow deleted Korriban from the Republic's records, the Jedi Archives should still have had a record of it. Yoda was like 900 years old, surely he had been cautioned about/learned of Korriban in his tenure even if Count Dooku had deleted it from the Archives as he had with Kamino.

I am not so sure about The Old Republic, I still play the MMO but it seems to me (could be wrong though) that in the end Empire and REpublic more or less fall into chaos, which might have lead to loss of information over time while the rebuilding began, though some time of "Dark Ages" after the Great War between Sith Empire and Old Republic ... (my personal explanation as well why echnology didn't really improve since that times...)
Yeah, it is a sloppy explanation nevertheless, no arguing there. But I could get my head around it. Easier than around some other changes. I am more forgiving in Star Wars about such minor changes than, lets say, Star Trek.

Star Trek ships have nothing against the might of the Empire. Starfleet will rest in peace if it ever came in contact with the Empire.

That should be easy.
No Jar Jar Binks or Gungans.
Done. It's in the bag.
