That was one of the (many) problems with the prequel trilogy
I don't know, I mean I liked Star Trek Into Darkness more than the first one, so who knows if the third one would have been even better with him on board?

Eh, I liked the prequels and considering how Abrams has been hyped (and I did enjoy his Star Trek movies) I want him to leave his mark on the Star Wars franchise.

I liked the prequels too... until the actors started talking

Lucas is terrible at writing dialogue, and then there's him being uncompromising with the script.
If he directed TESB Harrison Ford wouldn't have gotten away with the improv "I know." line.

I thought the prequels were trash, especially the first two. I admit RotS had SOME redeeming qualities, but not many and certainly not enough to save the movie from being garbage.
Episode VII on the other hand is looking hella good. I was pretty skeptical of the idea of more SW movies after the prequels, but I'll be damned if Jar Jar Abrams ain't made a believer out of me. Looking forward to checking it out this December.
Some of the film's failures (especially the handling of Zara's death) have got to be laid at the feet of Trevorrow. At the same time, I get the sense that JW is a film that was edited to shreds. Some things get set up that never get paid off (like the Hoskins/Dr. Wu plot thread), while other things are paid off that were never set up (i.e. the kids saying "Definitely with him" despite the fact that they haven't seen Chris Pratt's character do anything other than be rescued by Claire).
It's not great news for sure, but I think that Star Wars, kinda like Bond movies, are not really director-driven. If you look at the filmographies of Irvin Kershner or Richard Marquand (directors of Empire and Jedi respectively), you're not going to be terribly impressed. But the former is a great movie, while the latter is at least good. Hopefully Episode IX will have a strong enough screenplay so that the movie will turn out good regardless.
EDIT: Added a link.
I completely forgot that scene. My brain clearly bleached itself of all offending content from JW. That scene was so incomprehensibly vicious and over-the-top brutal, it just didn't make sense played straight. I still think Zara's death is part of the failed satire of the movie. It's like the opening shot of JW - instead of this majestic revel of the park, it's a boring, slow introduction that's paralleling an actual amusement park you stay at ala Disney - long rides to get there, crowds, a slow and aggravating walk to your hotel... and then a glimpse of the whole thing out of your window, by which point you don't even care.
A good script can avoid the worse pitfalls of bad directing, though. You're right.
Finn has got to be Leia's and Lando's son since Han is still just hanging out with his wookie and JJ would do something like that just to be hip and edgy.
Finn has got to be Leia's and Lando's son ...
Uh... doubt it

Most relevant summary of this turd movie I have read so far

So...you like the Prequels? *shudders in pain, looks with sadness at the poster*...You know...
I am good at fixing things ... always was. But I couldn't (*tears in my eyes*) WHY DID THEY ALL HAVE TO DIE INSIDE? Why couldn't I save them from these movies? I know I could have! Sometimes these things cannot be fixed, you say? People are not all powerful you say?
BUT I SHOULD BE! Someday I will be...I will be POWERFUL enough to undo these movies, I promise you! I will even learn to stop people from dying inside watching these movies!
It's all George Lucas' fault! He is jealous! He knows other people and fans are more powerful at writing Star Wars than he is. He is holding us all back!
He ... he killed them. He killed them all. They're dead inside, every single one of them that watched the prequels - not just the men, the women and children too. They're like animals to him, and he slaughtered their souls like animals! HE HATES THE FANS!
Why...*sob*...why does George hate them, us? We didn't..we couldn't...control him...
I..don't want to hate him back...but I just can't forgive him...

From iO9:
Star Wars Episode VIII
Benicio Del Toro has confirmed recent rumors that he’s involved in the next Star Wars Episode, offering an optimistic update about joining the film:
I can’t tell you much about it but I think that it might happen. It looks like it’s gonna happen so I’m very excited.

After RotS I felt we wasted our time with the two before, Qui Gon I think is a pretty good redeeming factor but him and the Darth Maul are the only good part of Episode 1.
I will repeat myself until it annoys people but I think Revenge of the Sith should've been the start of the PT or to say the least we should've already been in the Clone Wars. I feel what makes the OT super good too was that we were already in the Rebellion War, we didn't spend two films leading into it.
There is also this that was just announced, I never wanted a special console until now lol

There are two bundles one for Disney Infinity and Star Wars Battlefront, but both come with four extra Star Wars game with Playstation Trophies. One NES game and 3 PS2 games.

meh
Recently got wind that Mads Mikkelsen is part of Rogue One. How exciting!
meh
hey don't destroy my excitement with a "meh" lol
Disney is really hyping up towards Episode VII I'd say because Tin Case releases for all six films and now this special ps4 for either Disney Infinity 3.0 or Star Wars Battlefront

Are they releasing remastered versions of the original theatrical releases, or are they keeping those god awful Special Editions that make me wanna pull my hair out just thinking about them?
Pretty sure it's just a repeat release of Lucas 'Final Cut' iterations. The day they release the films, with the theatrical versions, is the day I'd tell them to shut up and take my credits.

Wow, really? Maybe Disney doesn't have its finger on the pulse of the SW fanbase as much as I thought. The Special Editions are rubbish and pretty much everyone knows it. Hell, I wouldn't have even released the prequels as part of the set, nevermind the Special Editions.

That is exciting news indeed.
Though still wanted more aliens in primary cast, tbh.

I have a feeling Disney will use this to their financial advantage, they will almost certainly get the original cuts of ep. 4-6 soon...

I most certainly hope so. If I ever have to sit through that cringe inducing dance number in Jabba's Palace again, I'll take a goddamn hostage.

I thought made that clear pages. Don't like it? Deal with it.
