The best part of RotS is the battle between Yoda and Palpatine (and not that ridiculous over-the-top one between Obi-Wan and Anakin that got boring after five minutes). Besides being between two of the most powerful and iconic characters in the series, it's also the only lightsaber battle in all three prequels where I felt like something was actually at stake.

That and the Emperor in general. Ian McDiarmid totally kills it as Palpatine, stealing every scene he's in and even making all the bad ones he's in seem good. Says a lot about the man that he can totally carry a movie as crappy as RotS is.

Also, I will say that I liked Ewan McGregor in RotS (and the other two as well). If they have Obi-Wan in any of the new movies or whatever, I think he deserves a second chance at the role.

Other than that...

I still wish Lucas was involved. Say what you want but Revenge of the Sith WAS amazing. It's like episode 1 and 2 were not made by the same cast and crew, lol. RoTS was so good. Lucas actually tried with RoTS. The last 30 minutes of RoTS are the most epic content in the Saga. There's so much happening and such attention to detail and so well scored and filmed.

Thse last 30 minutes ... wasn't that just Ani and Obi fighting in that lava-level? I could never beat that stage on my own! I was just unable to get Obi gaining that damn high-ground!! How is one supposed to jump from those damn moving platforms to... Oh wait, that was a movie? No wonder! *slaps face* Should have figured that out after the droid-factory-level already, silly me!

In regards to the above last quoted sentence however...

Most of the dialogue in Episode 5 came from Lucas himself.

The screenplay for Empire Strikes Back was written by Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan. Lucas wrote the story but wasn't responsible for most of the dialogue. That is also partly why it is the best Star Wars film so far. Lucas is not a good scriptwriter.

Lucas had alot of oversight and creative control taken away from him during the OT. There's also the fact that he didn't direct or do the screenplay for ESB (which is regarded as the best SW movie) Lucas is simply not as good as people claimed and this was shown in full splendor with the PT.

The only thing Lucas did not do was direct, he had hands on everything else during Empire.

I recall during that droid factory part of Episode 2 thinking "This Episode was badly written!"

And yes, I was thinking specifically of that scene from that movie and how appropriate it was for this one  :P

Yes, but he was not solely responsible for the film's screenplay and the dialogue reflects that. The dialogue was largely due to Brackett and Kasdan.

I believe when Leigh died, Lucas rewrote the script and gave it to Kasdan. Almost everything you see in Empire is by Lucas even a lot of his dialogue (including the romance between Han and Leia.). One of the few things that Kasdan did was that he found a compelling way to make Yoda speak. In summation, Kasdan basically edited and added a few things that Lucas wrote.

Oh great! More dishonesty by those guys, they missed the fact the Mccollum was more a "no guy" to Lucas if they listened to the documentaries.

You guys are forgetting a key aspect of the prequels & why they suck overall.

We are all well-versed on how many fans of the OT had rose-colored glasses. True, legitimate point. Also keep in mind when ep. 4 & 5 were released they were breaking new ground in many ways, whereas the prequels didn't innovate much at all. The script, effects, acting & overall story arc had been done in some capacity.

The prequels did not innovate? Are you serious? I know people hate Jar Jar, but he was the first CGI character in theaters. Attack of the Clones also was the first to introduce digital filmaking and demonstrated that it could be done. If it weren't for movies like the Star Wars prequels, you probably wouldn't better more enhanced CGI like the Avengers.

Who cares about the CGI? We didn't want innovative CGI from the prequels, we wanted good Star Wars movies. Lucas failed to deliver. That's the bottom line.

The point I'm making that the person above me said that the prequels didn't innovate much, I answered his claim. Whether the movie is quality or not is up to you.

Star Wars was also considered to be revolutionary for its FX and not just its story (which is really that original).

Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 are good star wars stories....in comparison to the movies. And yes Revan and Bastila Romance despite the cheesy of it, is still better than Anakin and Padme or Leia and Han "I know" Solo.

Eh, CGI characters had been around since Tron.

And I'd say the dinosaurs in Jurassic park were at least as good as Jar-Jar.

A female counterpart named "Jug Jug" could have been more interesting and deep.

I do like Darth Maul and Count Dooku. I do wish that there were More Dark Jedi and Sith running around during the Prequels. As for Prequel Content, The Clone Wars CGI Cartoon is what should have been the Movies in my personal opinion.
