I have a fairly long winded theory regarding that, here is what I copied and pasted from the topic that I originally posted the theory in:

I am calling it now, Revan has been possessed by the Sith Emperor. Spoilers mixed with speculation in regards to the Foundry and Maelstrom Nebula flashpoints and the Jedi Knight story follow: Due to Revan being in the Emperor's captivity for 300 years the Emperor was able to gradually break Revan's mind down all the while reading it, slowly pushing him towards the dark side, Revan was able to resist for the most part and was able to hide the location of the Foundry from the Emperor. The Emperor came up with another plan to find the Foundry: allow Revan to be freed and lead him to it he shall, which he did. Revan began to put in motion a plan to exterminate everyone with Sith Imperial blood which, ironically, would have completed the Sith Emperor's ritual to gain immortality. However, during the final hour and Imperial Strike Team appeared and bested Revan in combat, during his apparent final moments Revan experienced clarity and quoted Darth Malak's final words as he disappeared in a flash of light.

This flash of light turned out to be Revan using the power of the Force to teleport. Or was it? I believe the Sith Emperor used the Force to transport Revan back into his clutches, I believe that Revan was on death's door on the Foundry and that once back in the Emperor's clutches what was left of his mental resistance and life slowly ebbed away. The Emperor went on to leave either a captive or a recently deceased Revan and journeyed to the Dark Temple on Drumond Kaas to complete his ritual, but was bested by the Jedi Knight. Defeated and without a vessel the Emperor either possessed Revan's dying body/weakened body/corpse or his essence was caught by one of his hands and transferred into Revan.

Why would the Sith Emperor take control of the Revanites and abandon his Empire? The loyalty of his Dark Council is in question and the Revanites are beyond fanatical towards Revan, what better than to play a role and have an unquestionably loyal army? Why do I believe it is the Emperor and not Revan? I cannot imagine Revan wanting to destroy the Republic, he purposefully left its infrastructure intact during the Jedi Civil War so that it could fight the Sith Empire. Furthermore, on the Foundry he was so desperate to destroy the Sith Imperial bloodline so that the Republic would be saved, also during the Mandalorian War he defied the Jedi Council to stop the Mandalorians from conquering/destroying the Republic, the connecting thread is that he doesn't want the Republic to fall, it would go against what he was fighting for.

I also think that the expansion gives away some of this with the name Shadow of Revan; A shadow can be less than or not of.
It might also be hinting that even if possessed a portion of Revan has retained itself and might come into play.

R.I.P. EU

:(

star-wars-7-solo-kids.jpg

I both loved and hated the EU, never have I seen such a collection of great and crappy writing mixed together under the same franchise

I hope that one day someone decides to continue the "Legends brand" alongside the Canon. One thing that I was always hoping for was that they would go way beyond Luke and Co by exploring at least 700 some odd years ABY (after episode IV), they could have done so much in with such a gap of separation. I'll grant you that there was the Legacy comics, but even those were tied down by having to continue bloodlines and reference events from the books because the gap between it and the books was too short. <_<

Agreed.

I have mixed feelings about that.

Some of it, like the Thrawn trilogy, is definitely a loss. Some other stuff belongs in the rubbish bin though. Like Galen Marek. Revan kind of sucks too, to be honest. Too many EU writers tried to make their characters the most amazing/bad@ss characters ever in the universe.

Well that's most books regardless of the universe. It's sad really.

Galen Marek was completely over the top though. Story wise there is no reason he should have been that strong.

You haven't read anything from the Dungeon and Dragons universe novels. While most of it is indeed crap there are a few gems out there.

The Force Unleashed novel was great in my opinion, Galen's powers were a lot more grounded and closer to reality (reality, lol). He beat Darth Vader by the skin of his teeth in the novel and he did not fight the Emperor. Him beating Darth Vader made a bit of sense (not that I necessarily agree with it) because he was trained by Vader since a child, he would have the advantage of knowing how Vader fights. Ordinarily, the same would be the case for Vader, however Galen was out fighting a bunch of Jedi masters and he had to change/learn fighting styles to adapt, he underwent a tremendous amount of growth during the events of TFU. We also don't know how rusty Vader was getting or how long it had been since he last dueled a Jedi (especially a master).

The abomination that was the sequel, yeah that should have never existed. We are left with something that will never be resolved thanks to it being wiped from the Canon and because they half-assed it and decided to end it on a cliffhanger to build up for a sequel, instead of giving it a proper ending. The one thing that I liked about The Force Unleashed II novelization is that it left it open as to whether Starkiller was a clone or not, but the game ruined that with its "Distant Thunder" cutscenes. If anything, the sequel should have followed the alternate universe that the DLC created and revolved around "Darth Starkiller", they could have cut loose and wouldn't have been bound by the then Canon.

Revan was good in the first two KOTOR games especially KOTOR2 but Revan has unfortunately he has appeared to have turned into a lunatic in the upcoming TOR expansion. The exile is much better imo but sadly she's dead.

Revan was OK as a magnificent bastard who became good after a bit of brain damage or stayed evil. I think KOTOR2 is where it started to go downhill.

Actually in KOTOR2 we learn that Revan did his best to keep the infrastructure intact in order to prepare for the sith empire, it added some depth to him. From what I heard it really started to go down hill with the novel.

Uh... Most everyone who has played KotOR 1 & 2 liked them for the most part. Sadly the sequel was rushed and therefore incomplete. (?)

The beauty of Kotor 1 and 2 is that we are given reasonably powerful jedi and the while being ourselves in those 2 games. So if there was a true remake of either of those 2 games, I do wish they will be respectful of the original games while adding new content.

I think that just made him a ridiculous character. But I take a very different view of KoTOR 2 from most people - it's a good plot in the wrong setting.

If that were the case, whoever made those went to a lot of trouble to create them.

If you ask me, they look rather badass:

In the "Grave Robber and Daisy Ridley" picture it looks like the Grave Robber is wearing Vader's Helmet.

According to the people at Jedi Council forums, this is the same guy that spoiled Captain America 3.

The problem with much of the 'Expanded Universe' or games (TFU) or animated series is WE as FANS need to let Darth Vader go.

He was a great character, his story has been stretched, illuminated, beaten, baked and re-hashed. All the fans/filmmakers/writers; PLEASE let it go. Vader must die for any of the sequel films to have a shot at matching Episode V.

There needs to be room for a new villain to come in and break some balls. This idiotic Vader's helmet crap has got to be bogus. Please J.J., don't keep beating the "Anakin dead horse".

You're my only hope..

Vader is awesome and I do think mybudgee is correct as well. Dooku, Maul, Vader and Palpatine are all worthy Sith Lords but their time has past. Needs new evil Sith Lords.
