I actually liked TPM, probably because I was 8, and not that invested in Star Wars (Though even I knew who Luke's dad was) and I just couldn't get enough of the podracing sequence, and I thought Maul just looked cool. I'll even admit that I thought Jarjar was hilarious at the time. I still have enough nostalgia for it that I don't dislike it.

Attack of the Clones, I hated, mostly because Lucas handed a terribly written romance to two actors that couldn't pull off a well written one to save their lives. Liked other parts of it though.

I did like Revenge of the Sith.

I did like Revenge of the Sith.

I agree, except the Windu death scene.

Also, anyone who hasn't watched these really should.

Don't like them.

I liked RoTS too. Mace Windu's and Palpatine's duel was the highlight of the film for me. It had simple choreography and is straight to the point. Jackson and McDiarmid hamming it up was another plus.

It was way cooler in the book. Also, Mace being flung out the window was completely retarded. He could use the force to soften his fall as he did in AotC. So dumb. Sidious SHOULD have just fried him on the spot to a crisp...

I think Lucas just wanted it to mirror Sidious' death. It's the type of ham fisted allusions/symbolism that he loves using.

Lucky for us, Abrams is not a Ham....

It's just a silly waste of a character. TPM had a real issue - rope in the adult fans with a mature plot that also captures the magic of the originals for their children. Instead Lucas made a serviceable movie for children and an intolerable one for adults. The Phantom Edit makes it an OK Star Wars movie - on the level of A New Hope.

Everything else in the prequels is pure garbage. I can't even decide which is worse between clones and revenge.

Man I loved the prequels! They were deep, complex and entertaining for me. TPM was definitely one of my favorite movies growing up.

Childish attempt at flame-bait detected

Huh? What are you talking about? I really do enjoy the prequels, they were a big part of my childhood as well as the Original Trilogy. If it came across as flame baiting then I don't know what to say. This is a Star Wars thread for I presume Star Wars fans, and I just wanted to gush a little.

It was originally supposed to be Boba Fett that killed Mace in retaliation for his father's death, but Jackson said that he didn't want Mace to "die like a punk", so Lucas changed it to what we have now. <_<

If memory serves he was already dead when he was out the window or died while going out the window due to taking the full brunt of Palpatine's Force Lightning. I believe this was also the case with the novel, but I can't remember.

On a side note: A lot of people seem to think that Luke and Mace were being shocked with Force Lightning that had the same lethalness/charge to it, but they weren't. Palpatine aimed to kill Mace with the Lightning after Anakin cut off his hand, where as with Luke, Palpatine was amping up the charge slowly, because he wanted Luke to suffer as much as possible before dying.

Honestly when it comes to the new trilogy, I'm more worried about Rian Johnson's involvement in VIII and IX. His movies are kinda pretentious, and Looper was so full of plot holes you could fly the entire Rebel fleet through them. If J. J. knocks it out of the park they should just keep him on for the sequels too.

All the Star Wars films have plot holes. Also, beware using "plot hole" the way Alanis Morrisette uses ironic...

Have you watched Looper? I know what a plot hole is and the movie is full of them, and the plot holes in the first three Star Wars films pale in comparison to the ones in Looper, trust me.

It's a legitimate concern to me that Johnson will be writing and directing VIII and IX knowing the quality of his past work. That's all I'm saying.

I kind of want J.J. to do all of them just for the sake of consistency, but then the other part of me wants a different director for each film because that is how the Original Trilogy was. Take the following with a grain of salt: there have been murmurings on the internet that J.J and Disney haven't been getting along well, if that is true than I definitely wouldn't expect him to work on any more Star Wars films be it main or spin-off.

I see. Well hopefully whatever it is, if anything, ends up benefiting the film in the end. I've got a generally good feeling about the new films since Disney acquired the property. Marvel has done well for itself under them and Star Wars Rebels is not bad. Just gotta cross our fingers at this point.

I'm not as worried about it now as I was when it was first announced, I've read lots of interesting things about the supposed plot that actually sounds good. The only thing that would really bother me would be them having Luke go dark side and I don't think that they'll do that now.

I wouldn't expect it to be as good as Empire or Jedi (and Revenge in some people's view), because this is the first act of the new trilogy and it has a lot to set up and even explain. I mean we have a whole new cast to be introduced to and we need to learn the political/galactic situation. I think that Episode 8 will be when things really kick into overdrive because we won't need to be introduced to a lot, we'll have an idea of what is going on. I guess what I am trying to say is that some might want to lower or temper their expectations a bit because The Force Awakens has lots of ground to cover, were as Episode 8 and 9 will probably have more leeway (8 just has to continue whatever TFA starts and 9 just has to wrap things up).

A director's thematic and aesthetic touch is more important (IMHO) than logic or meticulous narrative nit-picking. You are welcome to disagree, but in my experience with film, the overall artistic finish leaves a very strong impression. It can make or break the connection with the audience
