Is this the "fandom" the prequels brought in? Was it worth it?

I'm just exaggerating though. Every time I look at the Youtube comments in general, I become a little bit more of a misanthrope...

Mostly. People are hating because there is a black stormtrooper even though their supposed to be clones of Jango ( who is white ) What people forget that the Empire stop cloning and starting recruitment from the populations. But NOOOO the EU is stupid and meaningless

I liked the Mega64 version more.

You mean the real version?

I hate to be that guy (again), but the EU is NOT canon. Only the movies (and now Star Wars Rebels) are official canon. This is something George Lucas himself has said several times, and Disney maintains the position for the most part.

I'll never understand why people disregard this and insist on contradicting movie fans who do not acknowledge or don't know about the EU with non-canon information. Just stop.

You don't need the EU to realize that the Empire stopped relying on clones for a while after Episode 3. Or maybe you're not arguing anything related to that...

And they still can't utilize and incorporate ideas from the old EU into the new Canon because...?

I like weapons when they're designed sensibly (So this is all 100% biased opinion from me). Lightsabers resemble Katanas, so they had parts up on the Emitter that could feasibly be a guard.

The Inquisitors is very obviously designed like a  European Longsword/Broadsword, with the larger crossguard. Nothing in the new canon so far has ruled out the existance of cortosis (and really, a villain with a weapon that can short out lightsabers? That'd make for more tension in the fights, definitely more than Rebels, and it's death frisbee), or Mandalorian Iron.

Rule of cool is void when it looks like a 5th grader doodled it up in Math Class, like FF8s GunBlade.

Then why mention it? As far as the official canon went prior to Episode VII, Stormtroopers were all clones. We don't even know for sure that's still not the case. We see one Stormtrooper with his helmet off. He could just be disguised as a Stormtrooper, like Han and Luke were in ANH. There's not enough information to go off of to conclude one way or the other (not just about this but anything to do with VII really), and deferring to non-canon material for an explanation is kinda pointless. We won't know for sure until the movie comes out, or Disney goes on record about it beforehand.

Pablo Hidalgo (the guy tho curates the SW lore) said the clone troopers had accelerated aging and by the time SW: Rebels began the Stormtroppers are already in it's majority composed by normal conscript troops.

That works both ways. How do we know they're all clones? That's as large a presumption but given that stormtroopers tend to have variances in height, accents and skill, I'd say "they're not" is a bit more valid.

But I halfway agree. The overall point is moot since it doesn't stop people from donning a uniform.

While the EU isn't canon, Rebels has brought in some elements from it into canon, also the new Tarkin novel (which is canon) has brought back a lot of the old canon into the new existing canon.

In fact, one of the episodes of the Rebels cartoon had kids being trained by the Empire: http://starwars.wiki.../Breaking_Ranks so the problem is solved.

I'm not saying people shouldn't talk about the EU at all, but I think it's unwise to defer to it as concrete information or try asserting it as such in discussions. Some EU material may or may not be incorporated into the official canon (it doesn't happen all that often) but there's no way to know for sure if they're gonna do that. So I just don't put any stock in it, and I don't think others should either. Nothing is canon until Disney makes it so.

The blade beam itself looks and sounds different from that of the traditional lightsaber. It looks far more focused and intense. Kinda scary really.

To hell with these D-bags & their "trailer analyses"

... I care not for some dude I've never met or his opinion.

Also:

Jango was played by Temura Morrison who is of Maori decent (New Zealand natives) ... so not exactly "white"

Also, racist BS is thankfully limited to our galaxy, not the galaxy far, far away.

Of all the things people could criticize about the trailer (and there are several), the black Stormtrooper seems to be the thing most talked about (on Youtube anyway) for some reason. Nevermind the possibility that not all Stormtroopers are clones as has been said, or that the character might not be an actual Stormtrooper as I pointed out earlier.

Actually it would be hilarious if the character was a clone based on a new black character, and all the other Stormtroopers in the movie were also clones of this black character. A whole legion of black Stormtroopers, coming soon to rustle jimmies in a theater near you. I'd laugh till I cry at the Internet reactions.

Wouldn't the Falcon fly terribly in an atmosphere with its atrocious aerodynamics?

Why would people care about that? The last clone was already played by a Maori, whom people here sometimes consider "black" when not "brown".

Seriously, a Stormtrooper being black has peoples' jimmies rustled?

F*** that lightsaber, though.

Never ever call us brown people, "black".

You must not keep up with Internet controversies.

Also Star Wars has never been much on realistic physics or scientific accuracy in general.

Okay, saw the trailer just today and: Iam very much pleased so far to see: We will still have Stormtroopers, Tie-Fighters, probably Star Destroyers etc.

This means the Empire either isn't dead (most likely) or the New Republic has started to use (like in the prequels) the materials left from the Empire after its downfall (less likely to me, but who knows? well, maybe some diehard-fans can clear that already to me)

So I am intrigued, even if most of the EU will be thrown overboard, if they will keep certain cool aspects and make use of that. For example that the Galaxy is still kinda divided, the Republic still struggling to become stable while the Remnant Empire is resisting in getting completly wiped out. That would be awesome. Hey, and if they even introduce their military is led by a blue-skinned tactical and military genius? Ah, might be asked too much though

Lol people b*tch about him being black, yet don't even think about the possibility of him not actually being a stormtrooper and only wearing the armor as a disguise like Luke once did.

I'm more amused about the lightsaber hate. Why does it f*ckin matter how it looks like? It's not like they confirmed that all the lightsabers will be like that. Anyway, The sith can build their own lightsabers the way they want to. No big deal.

Nice to see the Falcon back, tho ;)

Yes the laser blade looks quite unstable, like it's trying to suppress power, cool effect.
