BSN'ers, one question.... There are folks on Yotube(Mostly) and various parts of the Internet that keep insisting that Stormtroopers are still clones... Really, why?

 

Some of the hate of Boyega's Character was from this... I even read a post that said "why is the stormtrooper Black(No racism here)? They should be hispanic, like Jango Fett was" and another that replied "Oh, Jango wasn't the only Clone Template"

 

And I was like...

which is plausible. It's unlikely that Emperor Palpatine ordered the creation of another generation of clones in the empire.

I went back and added spoiler tags. I had debated it originally, but it was difficult to get a look at the characters features due to the nature of the concept art.

 

I could see that, but

I think Ugnaughts were a one off kind of thing, like the Jawas, Ewoks, Gungans and Wookiees (with the exception of Jar Jar and Chewbacca (Holiday Special be damned )). The only alien species that we've had appear in more than one film were the Tusken Raiders/Sand People and they might not even be alien (in the comics, they are human in appearance).

The Stormtroopers were no longer clones by the time of the original trilogy (or at least most of them), so why would they be clones in a movie set decades after?

It's funny because The Rebels cartoon addressed the issue in one of the first five episodes XD

 

If one were to go by the films, they would notice that the Stormtroopers are different heights in A New Hope.

 

By the time of The Force Awakens, any sort of cloning program that the Empire had going would likely be gone due to attacks by the Alliance and their dwindling resources. Add to this that Episode 2 mentioned that the clones all had accelerated growth, which would mean that all surviving clones (assuming there are any) would be old men.

On the black stormtrooper, I don't think what is actually canon matters to the vocal minority. Apparently, they get to decide what is and isn't canon. Nevermind  altogether that this is just a teaser and, at the very start of the trilogy, characters have been playing stormtrooper "Dress-up".

 

It's hilarious just how much sh*t is involved around one black dude in the Star Wars universe.

 

This is worse than people seeing black dudes and Asians in Lake Town with the Hobbit.

 

People were up in arms about that? Yeesh, It was just one scene with the camera (awkwardly) panning towards the extras.

 

I can only imagine when the full movie is released.

I am somewhere around 90% certain that what I am going to post is fact, due to this information having been backed up by both the leaked concept art and the trailer that came after it, you have been warned.

Finn, the black stormtrooper, was an actual stormtrooper, but is a deserter. He stole a Tie Fighter and crashed it, the scene in the trailer where he pops up is him rising up from the crash. I'm unclear if he got shot down by the Empire for deserting or if he simply crashed because stormtroopers aren't trained to pilot Tie Fighters. That's that, he was a stormtrooper at one point.

 

But yeah, people like to get riled up for no reason. I've read that people had a similar reaction to Lando back in the day because he was black, but look how awesome a character we got.

It's hilarious just how much sh*t is involved around one black dude in the Star Wars universe.

 

This is worse than people seeing black dudes and Asians in Lake Town with the Hobbit.

Where´s the surprise? Anything SW related is always adressed from a negative angle, both in and outside the fandom. Imagine that scene in The Hobbit if Tolkien fandom acted the same way (it would be slightly more justified, as in canon there are no other human ethnicities in northwestern Middle Earth, but still...).

I disagree because

when Luke both crashed on Hoth and Dagobah, he didn't have any sort of marks or concussions and also walked away like nothing had happened. I also feel that if Finn had been wearing his stormtrooper helmet when he crashed, it would have absorbed most of the impact, in fact the reason why he doesn't have his helmet, but does have the rest of his stormtrooper gear could be due to the fact that his helmet was badly damaged in the crash.

 

Ah well, we shall find out in a years time (give or take a few days, lol).

The helmet design looks fine since it seems likely that it's either based off of it or him literally re-using parts of Vader's helmet. That's within the context of the story, in terms of the real world and them making the movie it's obviously intended as a nod to Vader regardless of what explanation it gets in the movie if it gets one at all.
