I would agree, except for two scenes: Mace's death & the duel preceding it. What a cringe-fest

Boba Fett was originally to kill Mace Windu, would have loved that more. It would have been far more fitting, the dialogue between Anakin and Mace in Palpatine's Office doesn't make much sense anyway.

"It looks to me like you are trying to assassinate a senator"

Anakin, what are you talking about? You just told Mace that he's the Sith, how could you have expected it to go any other way?

"Boba WILL be in Episode III, but his role definitely won’t be larger. He’s in a transition period of becoming a bounty hunter. The next film takes place two or three years later, so Boba would only be 13 and still wouldn’t fit in the suit."

--George Lucas

"I told George (Lucas) I didn't mind dying, I just didn't want to go out like some punk. George said that was fine and he'd see what he could do about a fitting death scene for Mace."

--Samuel L. Jackson

"I die in the next film. But I want to have a say in it. When I go, I don't want to get shot in the back by some bounty hunter-little Bobo twerp. When I go I want to be facing him, and he has to be better than me."

--Samuel L. Jackson

"I did get an e-mail from the stunt coordinator, who said he'd like for me to show up a little early because he has some things we want to work out. So I guess that sounds like I'm gonna go out in a blaze of glory. I'm looking forward to it."

--Samuel L. Jackson

"I'm just going to die, you know? I'm basically going down there hoping that I'm going to have this really awesome lightsaber battle with somebody that takes me out in the proper way. You know, the way a Jedi of my status deserves to be taken out."

--Samuel L. Jackson

"The fun part about being able to set up a character like Mace Windu and Sam wanting to do the pictures is that we were able to set him up in the first film and actually use him in this film. And he's looking forward to the fact that he knows that at the end of the Clone War he gets killed so he gets hopefully a great death scene. So you kind of know where everything is going."

--George Lucas

"Sam’s a little concerned that I make it nice and dramatic. It won’t be in the movie’s first scene."

--George Lucas

I was just underwhelmed mostly because I read "Shatterpoint", which was a showcase on Windu's badassery

Cut to Ep. 3, where Sidious is hardly a master swordsman, and he still holds his own against Mace.

(not to mention all the other Jedi were pretty lame in that duel)

I was hoping for some Dooku vs. Yoda style saber-play

Oh well... Here's to hoping ep. 7 has some cool duels

*raises glass*

Yeah and that Zabrak jedi master dies from a single stab. And yet Maul survives being chopped in half and falling 700 meters straight down. I guess angry zabraks have damage reduction.

I was a big fan of the other duels in the prequels... even the Dooku ones and the Grievous ones. Just that Windu duel was SUUUCH a let-down

What's next? Palpatine particles returning as a villain? Or Dooku's floating head?

If I recall correctly, there was a story line where Palpatine sent his "essence" into clones that he had created, and Luke became his apprentice for a short time.

I never read it, but I have a feeling it embodied stupidity.

Bad comic... one of the few good things about the Disney ret-con

It did. I´m not a fan of the early EU, neither comics nor most of the books were very good.

That would be the Dark Empire comic. It was really bad, yes. I think most of the other EU books and such ignored it.

Has anyone read the EU books? I read a YJK, NJO, Dark Nest, and LOTF

I read a few other books, the Crystal Star *shudder* Anakin and Tahiri's series

I loved YJK, and parts of NJO............

I wish Dark Nest Trilogy and LOTF NEVER HAPPENED!

I haven't read a SW novel since LOTF's Invincible! and that says a LOT since I"m a diehard SW fan!

Lotf was the reason I quit reading post RotJ books too. Invincible is among the worst books I've ever read, Traviss and her fanmandalorism hipocrisy was disturbing, even Allston screwed up big time, with things such as a rebel pilot sabotaging rescuing a kidnapped child on country right or wrong reasoning.

I liked NJO scope, and only big mistake to me was they killed the wrong character halfway through. If only they hadn't handed the reins to Denning afterwards...

As for Palpatine, I can accept him as one of the strongest of the Sith Lords of both of all time and as a powerful Banite Sith Lord. but in Dark Empire, he is stupidly powerful.

Yes! Traviss and her 'fandmandalorism'!! I freakin didn't CARE that Fett showed up in every other book she wrote, and he was all of a sudden this amazing uber Jedi hunting killer person

I skimmed his backstory. Wasted pages for characters that needed development.

Cannot. Stress. the RAGE I felt for Caedus............the WHOLE THING MAKES NO SENSE!

What really annoyed me about Traviss was how she would rip the Jedi to pieces for what they did during the Old Republic (really, let´s not use the clone army and let the Federation roll over the Republic), yet presented ****ing mercenaries as moral beacons. somehow missing they are people whose chosen job is killing (and she makes clear mandalorians go to the highest bidder).

Didn't she once call the Jedi Nazis?

(Was seething over the memory of her Halo trilogy yesterday, so this line of conversation suits me)

I actually did enjoy KT's earlier RC novels because it made the clones individuals. However, there did come a point where Skirata's chosen few were the best and all Jedi were evil and that did rub me the wong way.

As for LOTF... Do not mention that travesty ever again! It was already suspect with the NJO series where they had the gall to kill

Spoiler
, incidentally one of my favourite characters in the EU, and then they decided to kill
Spoiler
! I suppose they decided to be dark and edgy by killing well-known characters. That's probably why I prefer more classic SW novels like The Thrawn Trilogy (best SW trilogy ever with a great villain).

well due to Palpatine's unreliable nature, I will not be surprised that Palpatine lied about Death of Plaguies(yes I am aware of the Plagueis Novel and knows it is in Legends) and his master(regardless if he is alive or dead)'s body to further research in the force

I always sort of figured that Plagueis might have lived, I figured that he knew quite a few somethings that he didn't pass on to his student, one of those somethings being how to leave behind his material body. It's ironic that one of the original concepts for The Force Unleashed had Darth Plagueis's disembodied spirit guiding the Secret Apprentice. Furthermore, the Darth Plagueis novel was originally going to cover both Darth Plagueis, Qui-Gon Jin and the separate ways they went about searching for immortality. Those two things always interested me, because it seems that the old canon might have had him still alive seeing as to how a lot of authors toyed with the idea in their original concepts (which means it wasn't something forbidden by Lucas).

One of the final things that solidified my belief in Plagueis's survival in the Legends canon was actually in the Darth Plagueis novel. After Palpatine killed Plagueis he felt a violent shift in the force and he immediately assumed that it was Plagueis lashing out getting ready to end him, he later came to assume that he had sensed Darth Maul's demise, except that Darth Maul didn't really die. So what did he sense? To me it always made sense that Plagueis watched from the sidelines after his "demise" for the sole reason that Palpatine had the senate locked down and was able to directly play both sides of the war. Had Plagueis killed Palpatine, The Grand Plan would have failed as he would have lacked the means to control both sides of the war.

Furthermore, he seemed to fear Darth Vader (he saw a vision of Vader when he was watching Qui-Gon explain Midichlorians to Anakin from afar), which could explain why he never attacked Palpatine after he became Emperor. He could have also simply been waiting for Palpatine to die before making his move.

Of course, all of that is non canon now and Disney seems to be distancing itself from the prequels, so I doubt we'll see or hear anything about Plagueis in the new films. He's probably very much dead in the new continuity.

It would be interesting that if Palpatine preserved his master in a bacta/kolto tank and mind raped him if not due unethical science experiments on him to unlock more knowledge of the dark side and one day, Plaguies awakens and kills everyone in the lab and escapes and have a new Force Unleashed game.

Yes I would love either a new movie, novel or game that explores Plaguies at various times of his life.

Also I would love a Kotor Trilogy for the new canon

yeah, well now i am a sad panda. at least Palpatine was smart enough to do that, so his master will not bite him in the ass later.

I am wondering about Kylo Ren and his relationship to the dark side and to his Dark Master.
