yeah, well now i am a sad panda. at least Palpatine was smart enough to do that, so his master will not bite him in the ass later.

I am wondering about Kylo Ren and his relationship to the dark side and to his Dark Master.

I think that Kylo Ren is an alias based upon some of the "leaked" things I've read. 

 

It might even (but hopefully not) be Luke gone dark side (which is always a bad idea).

 

I'm guessing that there is a very good chance that we shall see Kylo ordering around stormtroopers. 

 

In relation to that, what would make the most sense to me is that he is related to someone high up in the Empire food-chain (and by extension is as well). I can't imagine the Empire thinking that it'd be cool to bypass the Moffs and Admirals to install someone as their new leader (Emperor, at least not without a vote by the Admirals and Moffs) and I don't imagine that many in the Empire would be too fond of force users because of Luke and Vader. A Force User that is a blood relative of someone high up in the Empire is the only thing that could order around stormtroopers and make sense to me.

So cool. I remember, the novel mentions it. (Sidious keeps two lightsbers inside it, as a precaution. He was always slightly rusty in his sword techniques, as he saw a blade as excessive and only necessary when his force abilities were challenged)

The reason Anakin Solo

was killed off was due to George Lucas ordering it because he was worried that some people might confuse him as being the same character as Anakin Skywalker (the NJO didn't wrap up until 2005 if I recall correctly, the same year Episode 3 came out). Anakin was originally to be Darth Caedus, but since they had to kill him off they gave his arc to Jacen.

If true that would ruin the entire movie. Dark side Luke was one of the worst ideas of the EU. I'd hate to see that get ported to one of the films.

Exactly. That was his test and he passed it with flying colors. Sidious was the master at manipulation, if Luke could resist Sidious than he should be able to resist anyone else and I can't even imagine a more tempting scenario then what he faced on the Death Star II.

they couldn´t make Anakin the hero, could still have killed Jacen and have Jaina the hero (which she ended up being, if you have a very flexible definition of what a hero is). And really, having the grandson of Anakin turn dark side was silly enough, having the grandson named Anakin do it would be beyond words.

 

Haven´t heard of Traviss calling her detractors nazis, but she used the term "talifan", and not in the Mass Effect sense. Then there´s how in Gears of War she had women forced to constantly have children whether they want or not because humanity is low of numbers (but no low enough that they can´t do without half the soldier power I guess), when you treat your own like that maybe you deserve to go down.

It's probably just the leader designation for Rogue Squadron, I think that's all the film is going to have in common with the old expanded universe. Rogue Squadron was canon in the films, so they aren't exactly pulling things out from the old canon. Too bad they couldn't get Dennis Lawson (Wedge) back, it would have been appropriate for him to be the lead in such a film.

LOL If that's true he probably thought he could get away with it because Ewan McGregor (prequels Obi-wan) is his nephew, he's apparently big in the British tv shows, but I've never heard of a single thing he's done outside of Star Wars.

It's a damn shame. I LOVED Wedge... oh well. I hope there is enough great acting & new/awesome characters that it won't even matter. They will probably just say he was killed in one line of dialogue

I doubt they even mention him. I think about 30 some years (too tired to math right now) have passed since Episode 6, it'd be incredibly cheesy for Wedge to be brought up in the film had he died years ago (it'd be cheesy to me regardless). A death isn't even necessary, the character could have retired from the war and settled down to start a family or some such. One can only fight the good fight for so long afterall.   

 

Edit: It's likely that we might find out what happened to him in a future novel. He's fairly popular for being a side character.

I stopped trying to keep up with them with the exception for what might be in the trailers, I want the film to be a surprise at this point.

Yeah, they are showing off a 4 episode Clone Wars arc that was going to be from Season 7. It deals with clone trooper Echo and how he survived.

I had Qui Gon's death spoiled for me before I saw The Phantom Menace. I was kind of bummed until I actually saw how bad the movie stunk. Afterwards I think I was more bummed that Anakin and Jar Jar were still alive.
