Hmmmm. That title almost sounds like the opening to a joke? Big Bioware news day today!

Regardless, Chris Priestly announced today that he is leaving Bioware for desinations unknown, while Chris Wynn, producer of Gears of War: Judgement, is being hired onto Bioware staff.

Chris has been stepping back from the forums in an official capacity recently, so it's unclear if this has been something building up or a genuine new development.

Also, for those who said that ME became "just another Gears of War clone" well... now one could say this is legitimately the case. Wynn is joining on the ME team in a "senior development" role for the game.

What are people's thoughts?

I wish Chris well. He was quite pleasant at last year's DragonCon.

You can't legitimately say that Mass Effect is a GoW clone just because they now have a GoW guy on the team(also, using that logic they're both Operation: Winback clones)

Best of luck to Priestly, wherever he ends up going.

Well, I was using the phrase loosely. I made the statement simply because I know there are others who would make the assumption right off the bat.

And yes, best of luck, Chris.

One could speculate that it might be the case in an upcoming ME game... not say that those previous claims are retroactively true, or say that it will be the case because of a new designer's past credentials. DA2 didn't have a wuxia art style because it had the same art director from JE.

Still, best of luck to Chris.

I don't know much about Chris Wynn, but I'm willing to bet that he doesn't have a Midas-like magic touch wherein every game he comes into contact with spontaneously turns into Gears of War.

Anyways, good luck, Chris Priestly.

lol I have not played any of the GoW series except the first....did they add character development aspects to the game or something? I am asking because you used a comparison.

If they have not added a character development/enhancement aspect to the game I don't see how ME could be anything like it.

Interesting news though i doubt there'll be drastic changes to the next ME installment (lulz), but...

Godspeed, Chris Priestly.

Chris was the forum guy right? So he had no say so in the dev for any game?

I mean, to us yeah, it is news...but in a general sense?

It's not like Casey Hudson stepped down.

Don't jinx it!

And just give Mr Priesty a warm send off for all the times he banned us. :wizard: Rather than overanalyizing the situation atm. We'll do that later.

I'm sure we'll figure out where he is going soon enough.
