Good for him. I'm sure it was a difficult decision to leave.

If they seriously turned it into a full shooter it would get a worse response then the ME 3 ending did.

Turning it into a full shooter would be for the best.

I agree with these two responses. The main question now is if the series will remain a TPS or switch to being a FPS.

Have the people complaining about GOW actually played the full game - especially 3? I understand if it not to your taste but bringing the experience from that series to ME would be great. We can debate story shortcomings in Gears (I personally loved ending to 3 much more than ME3) but everyone seems to be skimming the important stuff. In ME the boss battles are pretty much the same strip shields/barrier/armour etc. Compare that to the boss battles in Gears which rely more on accuracy and dodging, rather than simple move to cover and shoot/freeze game to use power. I love the mechanics of ME3 but even on hardest mode it's to easy, new blood from GOW will hopefully lead to better maps in MP, enemies and bosses.

The BSN will be a strange place indeed without EvilChris and his blunt, no-nonsense approach.

Best of luck to you Mr. Priestly. I'm interested in reading your parting piece over on the BioBlog.

Not in favor of ME becoming a full shooter or some kind of fps.
The fans it still has would abandon it.
Never played GoW. Making ME into a GoW clone would be a mistake imo.

I must be in the minority, but personally I would not buy another ME game if it had no RPG elements in it. I am an RPG player and I have gotten into the ME world so deeply that my collection which includes; books, games, posters, figurines, comics and tons of other types of memorablia has grown to insane amounts that we literally have a small room in the house dedicated to it now. I just do not think I could stomach buying another ME game if it did not have RPG elements to it. I would probably go as far as to Ebay my entire collection honestly.

Not that it really matters because it seems most people want a FPS not an RPG, but that is just my point of view.

Chris should do one last hur-rah and go on a perma-banning spree and see how long he can last until his rights are revoked.

If I was in his position, the urge to resist would be too much.

I agree, and it would look great on his resume.

Banning 64% of a forum would be a fine achievement. You need a CV to be a moderator for forums?

for a company like BioWare? I would assume so, Or at least a reference of experience even if it was not detailed.

You need experience just to monitor a forum? Sit on your arse and stare at a monitor while waiting for some schmuck to break the rules and occasionally make an announcement? Is this even a job?

I thought being a moderator was like a hobby, or something you'd like to do. Like when Stan left Bioware but carried on being a mod because he liked it?

I was even interviewed back when I did some part time stuff moderating mmobomb forums back in the day and had to give references and mmobomb is NOTHING like BioWare.

Do you get paid?

I understand an interview for game journalism but for being a mod? Its almost pointless. What do you need experience in?

A CV is a list of skills you wish to show off to increase your chances of getting you a job, making yourself more attractive compared to other hopefuls. Being a mod is not a skill, not even worth mentioning on a CV.

I'm quite surprised, as I said, I always viewed moderators as just people passionate over a certain subject, in this case, games and volunteer.

I for one is sad to see Chris Priestly leave Bioware. It seems as if the old guard is leaving Bioware. 12 years is, as I see it, a very long time to have been at the same company today, it seems.
I wish Chris all the best luck in the world......and thanks for alle the fish....and the witty, ironic and iconic remarks as well ;)

Technically, they would still be playable, but just not fitting for your taste.

I'm fine with moving in the shooter direction.

I love all three ME games, but the ending largely killed any interest in the fourth as a single player, or role-playing experience (for me.) I believe that side of Mass Effect has run its course.

The multiplayer component really surprised me, however. It was well made, and enormously enhanced the value of the game for me.

I never would have played ME 3 for the multiplayer, but I certainly have stayed for over a year because of it. If they expand on that gameplay, especially if they make a coop campaign that friends can play together (ie not just horde mode) they would get my money, and I would even look forward to it.

If it turns out to have a great story and characters, well that'll be nice, too.

*Smh* Chris Wynn from Epic Games joins the Bioware team to work on the next installment in Mass Effect, and it automatically gets labeled as a first person shooter by a portion of this fan-base even though he's just one guy that's a part of a big talented team. Hell, I guess the ex heads from 38 Studios (Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning) don't have a say in the future of Mass Effect even though Bioware did in fact make them the lead level and gameplay designers for the game... Talk about being biased... I sincerely hope someone from Bioware locks this thread.
<_<

Anyway, best of luck to you, Mr.Priestly; I wish you nothing but the best.

No hard feelings for evil.
Maybe he'll write a tell all book.
Of course Bioware continues to advertise positions. The most interesting being a Lead Writer.
Gaider is the LW for DA.
Mac Walters the LW for ME.
The new LR?

Honestly they need to find a perfect balance between an FPS and a RPG, lets be honest the combat missions could definitly use some polish, but making it completely a FPS game I think would kill a huge part of the fanbase.
