I will too. I rather enjoyed when he every so often put whiners in their place.

Good bye and good luck to you Evil Chris. Your snarly, yet helpful comments will be missed.
Although ... maybe you will still drop by at the forms from time to time.
Cheers and all the best!

It's a sad thing to see Evil ChrisImage IPB go. But nothing ever lasts forever and perhaps our evil dictator decided that the time has come for him to do some evil somewhere else.
But he went far our evil lord. Having applied for a job as a character in MDK2 he instead became the fearsome ruler of BioWare's internet community. On his throne atop a mound of skulls he sat, casting an evil eye on anyone foolish enough to draw his attention.

Even had him as the antagonist on a short story on my old BioWare forums profile... he probably never read it, a shame.

So good luck Evil ChrisImage IPB Priestly with your future evil projects and thank you for the time you spent on the community here.

Damn, this is a clear cut case of bad news becoming worse. Priestly leaves, another Bio vet out, and on top of this, they hire the producer of Gears of War fudgement? I can see how that interview went...

"Wynn, we loved how you handled the production of gears of war judgement. Shockingly balanced weapons, unsatisfactory amount of MP maps, short campaign while squeezing predecessor dlc in to make it seem longer, a season pass with crappy incentives to buy it AND an RNG store which you can only use to access 10% of the stuff without paying for it...... Congratulations Chris, you're hired!"

Who the hell wants to be 'Head Mod' for the rest of their lives? I hope he's used his BioWare resume to move onto bigger and better things.  That's just the general thought I have from hearing the news.

Hmmmm. That title almost sounds like the opening to a joke? Big Bioware news day today!

Regardless, Chris Priestly announced today that he is leaving Bioware for desinations unknown, while Chris Wynn, producer of Gears of War: Judgement, is being hired onto Bioware staff.

Chris has been stepping back from the forums in an official capacity recently, so it's unclear if this has been something building up or a genuine new development.

Also, for those who said that ME became "just another Gears of War clone" well... now one could say this is legitimately the case. Wynn is joining on the ME team in a "senior development" role for the game.

What are people's thoughts?

While the immediate concern is that ME will play just like GoW because of the new guy, I don't want to leap to that conclusion just yet.

The reason being is that he is just one man, surrounded by people who have more experience making ME than he does. And ME4 is a next generation title.

After all the hula over the ending and general gameplay, not quite lining up with ME's of the past...... All of which culminated in The Citadel DLC where BW gave players time with all their characters and a cracking good adventure yarn, I can't believe they would forget what they learned about their fanbase, what is important to their fanbase, and most importantly, who BW is as a game development company with past titles, all of which were hits, because of the content on those discs. (Still have an original BG disc set on the shelf).

But the reason why I think this could be good?

Balance.

If GoW guy can get the combat nailed down then that leaves others to sit down and think about how to make ME play more like an RPG, without all those ME1 menu's and inventory.

At least, they are bringing in fresh perspective's on their franchise. Just as long as they don't lose sight of the franchise being developed by a game developer whose past successes and subsequent fanbase, are skewed towards RPG gameplay.

Goodbye Chris!
Seriously... this does not bode well for ME4. I think I will call the franchise finished and call it a night

The guys who made the ME3 MP and Omega DLC are doing ME4. I'm not sure how much more experience that is, and since ME has been copying GOWs cover-based mechanics since ME2, making more like GOW in terms of its shooter aspecs isn't a bad direction.

Actually, it has since ME1, it was just a bit more functional in ME2.  And really, this isn't something that scares me.  Hiring or not hiring him probably won't be a noticeable change in the quality of combat for ME4.  It's not just him working on it, and it wasn't just him for GoW.

Also, Chris had to leave eventually, one way or another.  And eventually, others had to join the team.   That's the inevitability of life: people leave, others take their place.

The (same gender) marriage of Gears of War and Bioware makes an union between two of the largest AAA-scale supporters of sexual minorities.

Wether gamers or Bioware have anything positive to gain from this remains to be seen. However, it is well beyond doubt Chris Wynn will certainly benefit: Getting to work together with Bioware will help him broaden his scopes and worldviews when it comes to sexual minorities.

No doubt Wynn had only good intentions in mind when reaching to gay community with Gears of Wars - series. However, his portrayal of homosexuality is as if it were done by a heterosexual living in a country where sexual minorities are either a huge taboo or entirely forbidden: Gears of Wars' idea of "gay" is such a misinformed, flamboyant, in-your-face embarrassing "In the navyy" type of a thing that it can only make one cringe. The entitre Franchise is essentially video game equivalent of that Tango bar in Police Academy - movies. Gears of War makes a very adolescent and somehow insecure take on what is or is not Gay.

Although I didn't particularly like Chris Priestly, I still wish him the best of luck on his future endeavors.
