Why was the Starchild a bad choice storywise?

Putting words in my mouth, stop doing it.
I will not have what I asked from bioware twisted in a way that is untrue to only cover their asses.

It's not nonsense what we asked for. You're excusing moral ambiguity as non-sense because you don't like it, and relating a bad narrative concept of the story to it to justify your opinion. Which you don't need to do. You can just say "I don't like moral ambiguity" without attaching it to something that isn't related to it.
Good content is entirely subjective. I think there is a big disconnect between what you and I (for just two people) define good content as. Obviously, we were both disappointed by the content we got, but you're limiting your idea of good content to what *you* think is good.
And trying to objectify your entirely subjective opinion while doing so.

Err, I'm pretty sure I never asked for what happened in the ending

Avoiding the question. ME1 did not end on an ambiguous note at all. It set up the needed preparations for war with the Reapers, that BioWare abandoned for a restart with Shepard.David7204 wrote...
Tell me, who here would consider the ending of ME 1 to be morally ambiguous?

in ME1 you can choose to sacrifice 10000 alien people including the council for the certainty of killing sovereign and saving human lives
THAT is ambiguous without pissing people off and taking away their emotional payoff. TYVM.
AND you still get called on it

Really? Steelcan here seems to disagree. Clearly, we don't have a consensus on what 'moral ambiguity' actually means.

It's what you're doing. You're switching to something entirely different, using a different concept or event and falsely tying it into the argued topic.
You're using an inconsistant comparison, an incomplete comparison, the ignoratio elenchi (irrelevant conclusion), the mind projection fallacy (swinging the stick), and of course....
Moving the goalposts.
Not to mention you're hedging on your definition of ambiguity.

Then don't hedge on it's definition David. Define it for us.
