Bioware needs to take notes from Crystal Dynamics...

If anything that Bioware has to improve is that age old mechanic of cover system. Let's face it that cover system was utilized in Gears of War and continued in many other third person shooters. But what Tomb Raider did was damn amazing. Mass Effect desperately needs this mechanic in the next sequel.

But that's what TR cover system got fixed:
Liara doesn't stick to a wall like in Mass Effect, Ghost Recon or Gears, she merely crouches, you can move freely.
And after playing a lot of ME3's MP, I'm sure this style is better for ME's gameplay: In higher dificulties, things can get too fast and complicated, but you can't rely on cover because it's too clunky, making it easier for your enemies to overwhelm you.
Of course you can use "soft cover" but it's not completely perfect, you can only do it from one side because of the camera.

I'm still undecided though as whether or not I like this system better than the more traditional system ME uses. The ME3 MP feels very different from the SP in regards to combat. During the SP most battles take place in a linear manner; the enemies are always in front of you. In the MP, it is an arena so the enemies can come from any direction. In SP this allowed you to stick to hard cover and not really have to move while in the MP you have to remain on the move to avoid being flanked.
The Tomb Raider system would feel more at home in the MP, but then again soft cover isn't too hard to use and hard cover has the added stabilty and accuracy bonuses as well. So I'm still undecided as to which I prefer.

Yeah I was very pleased with the cover mechanics in Future Soldier. The one thing I wish other games would take from it is the cover switching mechanic; it was awesome to rush from spot to spot even when they were a good distance away.
