I decided to make a hak pack for my module as I can't remember a lot of the stuff that happens in it, wanted to have a quick playthrough but with it's own hak to save me testing it later and don't want to add any more custom content. Anyway that's enough rambling now here's the problem..

I've made two hak packs before using the NWN Packer so I stuffed everything that I am using in my module from my override/hak folder in it then hit the "save as" button, gave it a name and ok'd it but it doesn't save as a hak with a picture of a white folder next to it all I get is an erf type folder with a photo icon.

Anyway I ignored this and stuck it in the NWN2 hak folder then headed over to the toolset. I started to delete the haks associated with my module but I couldn't add my new one because it didn't show up as a viable option.

What have I done wrong and how can I get my little white folder icon and my hak pack to register itself as a hak file ?

Thank you.

I think I've done it ! I got an old hak that was already in the right format, opened it, cleared it out, stuck the contents of my new hak loose in the NWN2 hak folder and then put them in the empty hak and renamed it.. Really messy not at all how it should be but fingers crossed it will work !

ps I'd still like to know how to do it properly though.

When you save a new file as a hak using NWN2 Packer, you need to explicitly type ".hak" at the end, or it'll assume you want to save it as an .erf and it gives it that extension automatically.

I'm just about to do battle with my 2da merging now so expect another post soon as I'm at the moment hunting my old posts to see how you do it.
