I know I'm dense but I just don't understand ME2 and the use of the weapons locker.  I can't really figure out what's going on when I access the locker.  I choose my character and hit select and then weapons show up.  I select a weapon and get no feed back as what is happening.  My character has several weapons to choose from in a normal gun fight so when I go to the weapons locker what am I accomplishing?  It seems to me that the same weapons are showing up and am I selecting which weapon is the primary or what?  It is just confusing and I don't really see the point of visiting a weapons locker.

As I said at the beginning I am a little dense but confused I am.Image IPB

The weapons locker allows you to select the weapons you and your squadmates will start with at the beginning of a mission, just in case you forget to change them when given the option at the start of a mission.

Thank you but what I don't understand is the mechanics of selection. When I click on a particular weapon what happens? As an example there are three weapons to choose from if I click on all three does that mean that those weapons are then available or do I have to just select one.

The best way to explain this would be to use an example.

For this example, Commander Shepard has four weapon types that you can carry into a mission: Pistols, SMGs, Assault Rifles, and Heavy Weapons.

When click on the Commander Shepard menu item, you see the following: Carnifex, Tempest, Grenade Launcher. These are the weapons that will start the mission with by default. (Note that when you start a mission, you can change the weapons again.)

Click on one of the weapons. For this example, you click on the Vindicator. This will give you a choice of assault rifles: Avenger, Vindicator, Geth Pulse Rifle, and Mattock. You click on the Mattock. Now your weapon loadout shows: Carnifex, Tempest, Mattock, and Grenade Launcher. These are now the weapons you will start the mission with.

Does that make more sense? Commander Shepard (and your squadmates) will always carry at least one weapon of each type they are allowed to carry:
- Soldier Shepard will always carry Assault Rifles, Pistols, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns.
- Vanguard Shepard will always carry SMGs, Pistols, and Shotguns,
- Infiltrator Shepard will always carry Pistols, SMGs, and Sniper Rifles.
- Adept, Engineer, and Sentinel Shepard will always carry SMGs and Pistols.

All Shepards will always carry Heavy Weapons.
Later in the game, Adepts, Engineers, and Sentinels will gain the ability to carry one of Assault Rifles, SMGs, or Sniper Rifles.
Later in the game, Infiltrators will gain the ability to carry one of Assault Rifles, Shotguns, or the Widow sniper rifle.
Later in the game, Vanguards gain the ability to carry one of Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, or the Claymore shotgun.
Later in the game, Soldiers will gain the ability to carry one of the Revenant assault rifle, Claymore shotgun, or Widow sniper rifle.

Default starting weapons:
- Shuriken SMG
- Predator pistol
- Mantis sniper rifle
- Katana shotgun
- Avenger assault rifle
- Grenade Launcher heavy weapon

Squadmates only have the ability to carry two weapon types. The weapon types vary by squadmate. No squadmate can carry a heavy weapon.

Also of note: The Geth Pulse Rifle assault rifle is only available on a specific mission completed on Hardcore or Insanity difficulty.

Hopefully that answers your question.

thank you. I believe you cleared it up for me. So if I click on a weapon and there's not a choice that means that is the only weapon they can use but if there is a choice then I have an option to choose between the choices. I'm sure I didn't explain it properly but I'm pretty sure I understand it.

Thanks again for clearing it up for me.
