Everyone, I was waiting for this day. The day I can replay FFVII on PC (not through SE ****ty network) but through a RELIABLE source.....no not origin (POS)

but through Steam. Trusted. Reliable and their sales definitely of great worth

I highly recommend buying it. It's a great game. Well worth it. And the new achivements makes it all the better for challenge purposes but for me, it's the Story. The Music and of course the characters of the old-classic era of SquareSOFT

It's also a Final Fantasy game. They aren't particularly popular here.

But of course I would recommend it as well. It's far from the best Final Fantasy, but it's definitely worth playing.

The PC version is actually good to be honest.

It's not my favorite FF (Final Fantasy 4 still holds that place for me) but the story is very good as far as JRPGs go. And I've played a lot of them.

The combat system was too easy and slow for my tastes but the game is solid and worth checking out.
The only thing I didn't like about it were the graphics (they're awfull) but that's just a minor complaint.

PCGamer confirmed that FF VIII will come next with an HD remake for the PC. Can't wait!

How did they confirm? Was it WITH SquareEnix?

Not much of a fan of JRPGs, but I played a bit of FF8 PC and FF10 on the PS2, and thought this might be a nice change of pace. I was going to impulse-buy it along with Mortal Kombat yesterday, but then I found out that the game uses an extra DRM with install limits and requires a Square Enix account.

So I'll be holding back till I find some more information.

Bought the game yesterday and started playing it (again after several years) on steam. It is turned based and compared to real time games the combat system is slow. Have played all the FF sp games up untill FFXIII when the gameplay changed to no longer very to my liking.

All the things that are in the game that are not story related are what makes this game really fun to play. It has a solid compelling story and nice characters. The graphics are from way back when but I do not mind that at all; it's part of the nostalgia.

Looking forward to the release of FFVIII on pc. 'Got to have' for me!

My favourite of the FF games, though that's probably super cliche.

I already have a digital copy on my PS3/PSP and an original copy, so I probably won't get it on steam. Unless it goes on sale. Heh.

I'm not a huge FF fan, really, I just like the series for its quirks. And FFVII? Yeah, it's cool, I enjoy it.

BUT WHAT THE **** IS THIS IDIOT BABBLING ABOUT?!

This guy thinks he's ****ing spoony, all he does is **** and NEVER gives an explanation. Even when he does it's contrived bull**** all over again.

GRINDING! He's complaining about... GRINDING?

That's cool I guess, though I already have it on PS1, PS3 and PSP, don't see the point in getting it yet again. Told somebody about it here who would definitely be interested in it though, and- Owate he already posted in this thread.

This I'm actually excited about. But I'm pretty sure I'm the odd man out that it, and FF12, are my favorites.

Not sure if I'll pick up FFVII. But anything is possible on a Steam sale. Image IPB

What I'm most curious about is whether FFIX will get a PC port or not, since it never had a PC release alongside the PS1 version, unlike FFVII and FFVIII.

Oh yeah a few projects that I'm keeping an eye on in regards to this are two fan mods, one aming to remake the game to look like AC, the other a more highrez texture and skin pack. Right now both are in early forms, but if they keep progressing I'll post links to em, both can be found on ModDB anyways.

Played the PC version when it first came out, that was a very horrid experience. They took a lot of what I liked about the FF series and just cut it out leaving a lot of characters I didn't like and a game that felt more like someone grabbing me by the hand and forcing me through the game promising something better would turn up but then just being led to a huge let down.  The final boss battle was so boring from the spam magic FMV that I actually turned the game off without beating it.

FF8 was even worse and I can not see why someone would want to play that one again as it removes even more that made FF good from it, actually punishes you for exploring which is what you do in these types of games and make random encounters pointless yet you still need to do random encounters, and once again full of completely unlikeable characters whining about there lives when in retrospect they have it pretty good.  The card game you played was more fun than the actual main game.  I haven't touched a Final Fantasy game since 8.

Played it many times on the PSone back in the day. My fave FF game, though only played 7, 10 and 12.

Actually sold that copy + strategy guide on ebay last week.

Apparently this PC version has bad music and you still need to sign into a square enix account to play too.
Personally i think its too expensive for a 15 year old game, and will only look to get it when its in a sale.

I too need to know more about this, I saw something about it on the SE forums.

Ahem:

"I've heard others say the same." /Oblivion

...yeah I read about that in the article JediHealer posted (in the comments) and it seems unlikely, for that reason.

FF12 is one of the best FF games post Square Soft. Waiting on the HD release...someday.

Now all the fanatical FFVII fans who have never even played the game can play for a few hours only to realize the graphics are dated as hell and the gameplay sucks balls.

Now now. As you know I'm a fan of FF latest installment first and foremost, but whether the gameply in VII "sucks balls" is quite debatable.
