To be completely fair, Anders in Awakening vs DA2 Anders are two different people. You do recall DA2 was a 2 for one with Anders and Justice right. Justice not being funny but more of a serious hardass. Yea going to say Anders was highly influenced in DA2 explaining the complete change.

However, personally I doubt varric will change like that. He hasn't been possessed or sharing a body with a spirit. He hasn't shown to change much between past "Story Varric" and his Joking DLC/Ending Varric. If anything he will be the same if not a bit more sarcastic should he make his appearance again.

uh anders was always touchy about it and then he took in a spirit remember I don't think varric will do that. also oghren stayed the same between DAO and awakening. also varric always preferred to stay out of politics or even the merchants guild unless he had to. he was more content to hang out then go and fight for some cause and he didn't even like to talk about mages and Templar conflicts or dwarven politics or any politics. anders they changed but he was already leaning towards it if they change varric to what anders was in DA2 (about some cause not mages neccesarily) it would be a character assassination to the extreme and I doubt they want that outrage
