It makes sense to advance into the future and explore other galaxies than go back backwards into the first contact wars.
Think about it, whilst it was really good in me1 players will have to wait for their weapons to cool down instead of thermal clips. I know it was in me3 and I liked that too only it can be a double edged sword, players could loose there patience.
Who said we couldn't travel to another galaxy ? I thought the citadel was a huge mass relay to dark space so why not exploit it as nobody seems to realise. Also the protheans did research on it to stop the next cycle and remember they was the race that made the conduit. To be honest I'd be very satisfied if the protheans duplicated this tech and created a massive flotilla (like the migrant fleet) and went to another galaxy to survive the reaper threat ... We all know the protheans are a war race and want to dominate other species (me3 - from ashes dlc) so I think the next enemy should be protheans who dominate another galaxy and have there own version of mass relays... It could also go into detail why the protheans lost the war ... Because they abandoned there own people to start a new empire. Obviously this is my opinion and I'd love to hear what you guys suggest

I think the protagonist should be a Spectre, and you'll be able to choose what race the protagonist is and more details about his/her past like a few basic options of what your family was like, your reputation among other people in the past etc. The races will be either Human, Krogan, Quarian or Geth (which will abandon available love interests but you will have Geth infantry at your disposal at the start of the game.)
The story will take place two weeks after the Reaper Invasion and you will be able to import your decisions from previous games and put in what you would of wanted for new players. If you tricked the Krogans into thinking the Genophage was cured, the Krogan will be very hostile to other races and if Wrex died on Virmire and Wreav is in charge, the Krogan will enter war against all other races and become effectively a isolated race and kill any race what isn't Krogan. Depending on your ending choice and EMS in ME3 the galaxy will be in various different states of corruption and lack of resources. If the player chose Synthesis their will be a citizen uprising due to some of the races preferences to not be so "Synthesized". If the player chose Destroy nearly all races will be at war with each other excluding the Asari and the Alliance who try and restore peace somehow. (there are many other ideas I have about the setting between the races and the galaxy depending on the ending although they are mainly more minor things.)
Anyway at the beginning of the game Shepard's dead body is recovered by the protagonist and his/her squad. If the ending was control, Shepard's body has many Reaper components to his or her body. Shepard's body is bought back to the Citadel to be examination where previous living squad mates and allies return to mourn Shepard once more and say their final goodbyes. If Shepard had a female love interest and is still alive, she will be pregnant with Shepard's infant child.
Billions of Yahg return from what they stated to be the Omega 4 Relay, where they have a large empire of colonies and are rumored to have conquered many other races in the Relay. The Yahg plan to expand their empire and eventually rule the majority of the milky way by conquering the Galaxy. The Yahg is under complete rule under a Yahg tyrant who is the older brother of the Shadow Broker and use to assist his brother until the Shadow Broker refused to let his brother to become his equal as the Shadow Broker and essentially have two Shadow Brokers. For the past Millennial the Yahg tyrant, referred to as Xaman has claimed to have build a huge empire "greater" than the Prothean's Empire 50,000 Years earlier. Xaman has advanced technology (although not quite as advanced as the Reapers.) and has knowledge of all the races technology on the citadel due to the "Bordercam" which is practically a hidden camera on the citadel and various planets which has the ability to trace speech from up to 500 Kilometres away which is how the Yahg became so advanced over the past Millennium or so.
After the Yahg finally reach and threaten Leviathan territory the Leviathans decide to attack Yahg forces without giving their existence away. The attacks on the Yahg by the Leviathans caused fear to the Yahg as they have no knowledge of Leviathan's existence and haven't got a clue who keeps on attacking them in specific locations across the galaxy. The Leviathans also give the Council a warning and information about the Catalyst, telling them how the catalyst gave Shepard the choices and their history and that the Catalyst may come up with a new solution to preserve organic life again as the Catalyst doesn't know anything different other than what the Leviathans told it what to do.
Aria also is a potential antagonist however you can persuade her to not start a war against the other races and steal resources from colonies if you have enough charm or intimidate (which returns from ME1.) She can become a powerful ally and a potential love interest if you persuade her to step down and Join the Alliance and the Asari in their quest to restore peace.
You will have the opportunity to participate in space battles against the Yahg and more squad interactions in between missions and in missions. The Combat system is practically the same as ME3 but fixes the hectic cover/dodge system and improves multiplayer by adding more multiplayer games and more available co-op members. Mass Effect 4 will bring back the RPG aspects and mystery from ME1 back and also feature loyalty missions like Mass Effect 2. Instead of characters calling you by your last name they call you by your first name by giving the player 100 potential names (140 for dlc) for all the races you can be. If you do not wish to do this you have the choice to submit a name that is not on there, however characters will only call you by your last if you choose this. Hand to Hand combat is very good if your a Krogan with even more power than ME3 multiplayer Krogan. There will also be more dialogue choices with the ability to also be annoying and VERY evil and one for being not much talking, generally quite and preference to do things alone, essentially an anti-hero (This dialogue choice will have no fear and incredible cunning on himself, for instance if you choose this choice your character will be the kind of person that will willingly take on three Thresher Maws or a army of 100 Turian soldiers on his or her own and be a complete Bada*s.) The neutral dialogue choice will also come back.
That is practically everything I can think of that will make Mass Effect 4 appealing to me and other people as well hopefully.

Interesting points It would be thrilling to see them suggestions taken into account
I had another few idea's whilst I did another run through on the trilogy.
I realised during the games the Baterians are supposed to be one of the more powerful races like the asari, turian, quarian ? But all we see through the games is terrorists... I wouldn't mind seeing how the baterian as a might of the galaxy function especially post reaper war since the Higemony was wiped out. One other thing I would be interested in is learning more about what occurs in the space between space and systems or star cluster. I think the player shouldn't feel bound to the mass relays or ether make more mass relays appear on the galaxy map to give the spice of exploring the unknown from me1 back into the game. I remember reading the codex on me2 and it said there was a lot of mass relays in the omega system so use them. Imagine the player as a merc who works for aria, gets a star base in one of these areas between systems or clusters and the player has the choice of upgrading defences, recruiting mercs, and resources and stuff like that .. As for exploring, I'm pretty sure that a lot of cerburus members abandoned their cruisers, and posts once cronos station was destroyed. so the player could have come into possession of one of these ships. I think bioware needs to establish what exactly happened after the reaper war, even though the extended cut nearly explained most things it still left me with a lot of questions like how did the galactic community cope with giant ass reapers fixing there stuff (control ending) or how did they manage to rebuild the mass relays and citadel which is millions of years beyond them. When I watched the cutscene the citadel had a huge hole in one of the arms (destroy) this is also another reason why they should go post-reaper war to establish a baseline. I think mass effect 4 should be like a side story to get the get on track with the events of what's happened previously, it shouldn't be about galactic domination like the trilogy. Once bio ware has created a clear idea ... Then they can focus on the next big thing to effect the galaxy.
Even though the endings was satisfying.. I'm still a big mass effect fan... To all those that didn't like it ... Help bio ware to learn from there mistakes
I look forward to the next game what ever it is about

I agree that they should focus more on the Batarians, maybe they could support the Yahg in my scenario. There should defiantly be new races for Mass Effect 4, so many ideas about planets which all kinds of species could adapt to and forge. There could be one race with multiple arms for instance to climb up trees which are very tall. I think Bioware should defiantly take their time with Mass Effect 4 though and don't rush it. Some Spin-Offs will be good too such as prequels about the Rachni War or the Krogan Rebellions, Geth/Quarian War, Anderson's life or the First Contact War. Good Spin-Off Sequels I would like to see would be how characters with their own spin-off game detailing what they did after the Reaper Invasion. For instance they could make one about Liara, Garrus or Grunt etc about what they did after the Reapers.
I think that in my scenario, after Mass Effect 4 and the Yahg are dealt with they could have the next two games about the Catalyst new solution and the Leviathans assisting taking it down. The Catalyst could make synthetic Humans from Anderson's or TIM's body on the Citadel just like it did to the Leviathans and created Reapers from their DNA.
As for the rebuilding of the Citadel, it does vary on how high your EMS score was in ME3, as I had 4000 EMS score and the Citadel was largely intact (I had the Extended Cut Ending too.) I don't know how they will be able to rebuild the Citadel if it was obliterated however. They would have to persuade the Leviathans to rebuild it (as I presume) they built as the Citadel "is part of" the Catalyst
which the Leviathans created.
There could be a big plot with Javik and him searching for the Protheans thorough out the galaxy and maybe succeeding. Imagine how much history the Protheans would have. Remember that Javik was a late Prothean so it would be interesting to see how the Protheans remained undetected by the Reapers if some did survive and their technology.

Some good ideas, but they would be easier to follow if you guys payed more attention to the grammar.
Also I'd like to point out that in the synthesis ending Shepard's body was vaporized so it can't be recovered.

So, I thought of something. I don't know if anyone has suggested this already but I thought this might be cool. I'll try to word it without giving away any spoilers. What if Mass Effect 4's protagonist was the primary antagonist from Mass Effect 3's Citadel DLC? That would give a familiar character to players. And if players of
ME3 got the little secret thing from getting a ton of EMS at the end, you could carry that over. I can't go into much detail about it here, not without giving away major spoilers, but if you think about it, you could make it work.

Ok i have an idea that i haven't heard discussion about. Not really a sequel, but a prequel of sorts.
Shepard isn't the only important crew member of the Normandy, the rest of the crew had their own lives. I'd be interested in seeing a game where for a couple of missions it followed Garus, Tali, Liara etc after the events of ME1, then again in the events after ME2, and it could even be done so it works with the decisions made through the first two games.
Me i'd like to see how things went for Tali after ME1, considering i'm a massive Tali/Shep fan.
