You also think the Witcher's good though.

In essence you are saying that some aspects of a videogame can't be captured in a demo. That might be true, but reviews can't show you how awesome the characters are either. The other problem is tastes can vary. I heard so much about how great FFX's story is, then played it and thought it was trash. I felt reviews did me a disservice. At least with demos what is capable of being captured can be presented to you directly. How does the gameplay feel? What is the dialogue quality/voice acting quality? How's the music? The nice thing about videogames is that you can generally tell right away what the quality of the narrative is, based on how the dialogue sounds and the quality of voice acting.
This is a good point. Everyone loves to bash FF XIII, but I loved the game (inb4#itallmakessense). There's no accounting for taste, and my tastes aren't always similar to those of reviewers.

By that reasoning, so should space aliens, monsters, fantasy and most of the tropes we've seen a dozen times.
Zombies are a specific element, not an entire setting like fantasy. I don't agree about space aliens, because "space alien" is far, far less descriptive and defining than zombie. Same for monsters.
Then you failed to understand The Last of Us, as the creatures aren't dead. Or if you cover the infected in the catch all term of "zombies" then it's just as broad in the same way as space aliens, monsters, fantasy and just as non discript as them.

Every full moon or so, I visit the Gearbox forum. Seems most people didn't like it very much.

according to urban dictionary:
A deceased human being who has partially returned to life due to undeterminable causes. The brain retains base facilities, namely gross motor function. In its near-mindless state, it grasps no remains of emotion, personality, or sensation of pain. In rare cases, some of the reanimated have reflexively preformed routine activities from their past lives.
The rotting bodies of the undead operate on a fraction of the level at which our bodies normally function. Circulatory, respiratory, and digestive systems are unaffected by reanimation. Labored breathing, choking, and moaning are reflexive but no oxygen is carried through the blood. The nervous system functions primarily within the brain and brain stem. Sensory reception is minimal at best and seemingly unecessary in the pursuit of prey. The undead are incapable of fatigue and will persist at any cost. They will even crawl when their legs have been removed. Even if the head is removed from the body, it will continue to live. The only way to stop the reanimated is to destroy the brain. To prevent reanimation in the recently departed, decapitate the corpse and burn the body.
The only observable action a zombie takes part in is killing living creatures, especially humans, and eating them. Many theories and speculations surround this disturbing behavior. One theory is based on the thought that reanimation is the result of a contagious infection or virus, ...

I'm not aware of zombie referring to them being actually dead. As I understand it zombie is based on them having some type of decaying-flesh deal, them being braaaaaaains/Nom that face, and them being mindless.

But neither can reviews. I suppose really what this all comes down to is that the best information you can get is a friend who has played it, but lacking that nothing is really going to give you a good idea.

Had I gone off of YT comments I would never have played ME3, which would have deprived me of an amazing game with a crappy ending. But still an amazing game.
As for other games, I've rarely seen any real analysis. Any JRPG these days has their comments stuffed with either obnoxious otakus or "2cool4u" bros bashing each other. For shooters it's usually Cod and BF fanboys warring.
Meh.

But are TLOU infected really "zombies"?
While they are not officialy zombies (aka the living dead) they are essentially the same thing. What with them acting in ways a zombie whould and looking like zombies. Tje only ones i whould call individual are the big boss types that launch spores at you.

Are you asking about Xbox exclusive games, or any game no matter if it is multi-platform or a console/PC exclusive? Let's see.
Mass Effect series (first was originally Xbox exclusive, later came to PC and even later to PS3)
KOTOR I & II (only on Xbox and PC)
Jade Empire (was Xbox exclusive, later came to PC)
Halo series (almost entirely Xbox exclusive, with just the first two games also on PC)
Gears of War (Xbox exclusive except for Gears 1)
Tomb Raider series (multi-platform)
Fallout series (multi-platform)
The Elder Scrolls series (multi-platform)
Dragon Age (multi-platform)
Age of Empires/Mythology (PC only)
I'd say that covers the major games I enjoy. Of course there are other games I have, but I'm not going to list every single thing I own.
