I would guess that it is because a scantily clad female form is the most obvious way to show desire?
not to the 50% of the population who don't 'desire' females.
I was thinking, wouldn't it be better if they change their form to suit the person who they are trying to seduce/possess?

How do you suggest they implement that into a video game? They'd have to make a lot of assumptions about you and your character. So 64 Flogs walk into a bar wrote...

Women are sex symbols, desire = sex
Lol, women aren't sex symbols on their own; a scantily clad woman is though. However, a scantily clad man would also be a sex symbol. Ergo it would make sense for a desire demon's form to change depending on its 'prey'.

They use magic in the seduction\\possession. Its not about the look of the demon. Remember that templar in the Mage Tower in Origins? He thought the succubus was his wife, and that the warden was threathening her and the kids.

Its probably just based on a succubus. Simple as that.

You misunderstand me I fear.
You are correct, hanging its form for the PC would be beyond tricky; however, when we see it interact with NPCs such as Lady Harrimann, improvements could be made.

Fair enough. In that case, I'm jumping in with the succubus lot. The sultry demon with ****** is instantly recognisable as one.So 64 Flogs walk into a bar wrote...

If they just use magic, then why do they appear as a barely clothed woman?Rawgrim wrote...

Because the look of the creature is based on a succubus.

Cause its part of the lore and how the writers decided to write it , its like ur asking Why is Meredith a Female? Why cant she be a Male Erhmygurd BI Community attack
Its not at all like that example. Humans have gender. Demons do not.

Desire isn`t just about sex. It can be about power and all kinds of things. The desire demon just offers to give the person what they desire.
Then there is even less of a reason for them to appear as a barely clothed purple woman.

Desire demon, Females are more attractive then men, 50%+ Of consumers are male and straight.
so if they would have made a Desire Demon that was a male and had a hairy chest it wouldnt feel like a 'Desire Demon' for most of us

All of the other demons are male. Why?

I agree with Rawgrim, though, it is probably just based on a succubus. Maybe they could introduce a male version or androgynous for certain situations.
