Cause its part of the lore and how the writers decided to write it , its like ur asking Why is Meredith a Female? Why cant she be a Male Erhmygurd BI Community attack

Its not at all like that example. Humans have gender. Demons do not.

I always thought they weren't 'actually' female, their base form just looks like a seductive woman to mortals.

I don`t think there are male or female versions of demons. Its not like they make babies and whatsnot like humans do. Female demons become desire demons. Male demons become rage demons and others. Its just the way the demons work in Thedas. or...beyond Thedas, would be the correct way of putting it.

Because having two models was too expensive IIRC. They were planning to have incubuses too.

Edit: Anyways, males seem to have a bit worse of a reaction when getting unwanted attention from the same sex than females do. So if you have to choose one, the female is by far the safer choice.

I don't. Even without factoring sexual attraction into it.

I agree with Rawgrim, though, it is probably just based on a succubus. Maybe they could introduce a male version or androgynous for certain situations.

Well as a gay male, I certainly don't 'acknowledge' that.

Desire isn`t just about sex. It can be about power and all kinds of things. The desire demon just offers to give the person what they desire.

Then there is even less of a reason for them to appear as a barely clothed purple woman.

All of the other demons are male. Why?

They aren't though, as I have already stated. In terms of appearance, rage, hunger, sloth and pride demons just look like gender less monsters.

I would support making Desire demons more monstrous looking?

As why they way were giving a female body.
I imagine it's because the female form is generally considered prettier.

Ideally yes, this is what would happen. But how are they (the devs) going to go about doing that? What if your Warden/Hawke is a lesbian? The demon should stay in her form then and not be presented as male. What if you have a thing for male dwarves, or female Qunari?

Considering RP, there is really no way to determine what would be successful in seducing the PC. Going on their chosen gender doesn't mean much.

You might also say that the form we currently know is how it is presented to us, the player behind the screen, but that our PC might be seeing something different entirely. Or it could be that that is her actual form, and she is able to exude desirableness, so that the person would be attracted no matter their real preference/ideal.

I have always assumed that the desire demon is able to read the person and assume a form that is most appealing. To me that is the most logical. As to why we aren't shown that is anybody's guess, with the most likely being that it is your typical male pandering. Although I admit that even as a straight women I think she's pretty hot.

Generally considered prettier across the entire work or just in the gaming community.

Anyway, I think the word pretty is loaded towards women anyway.

I could just as easily say that men are generally considered more 'handsome'.

Hmm I suppose they are. How annoying, I had viewed dragon age as one of the more original fantasy franchises.

explain "orginal fantasy" cause so far in reality not that orginal, Tho i think i'm one of the few people who has attempted to read TVtropes, and so far as looked into just about every religion there is. Also at least looked at most fantasy settings.

There is always a "Temptress" kind of demon, in almost all culitres.

As I have said, I understand the difficulty in the demon changing form for the PC, but there is no reason why it can't for NPCs.

I considered dragon age to be original because of the fairly unusual culture they gave to dwarves, as well as the Qunari race.

Think about the fact, why there are only female employees in a normal brothel and why women in general don't visit such a place.

Because they don't like other women?

Because us males are simple creatures, the consensus being that we all enjoy the "perfect" form; the quintessence of physical beauty given shape. Basically, we're not fussy. So it's a hell of a lot easier to make a desirable female to a desirable male.

This depends on the NPC, and is also made more problematic with the player-sexual or bisexual romances. I can elaborate on it if you really want, but my point is that I don't think it is that simple. The only place I see it working is for non-romance NPCs.

Also, you have to remember that the demon, while it might be sexually appealing to some, doesn't necessarily tempt people with that. Isabela is tempted with a ship, Lady Harimann with power, young prepubescent Connor with saving his father's life, and so on.

They've done it before. I think all demon's have the ability to do it actually.

Wasn't that dude in the Mage Origin a rage demon? Or was he pride?

"Mouse" was a pride demon. His lackey was a rage demon.
