You forgot the Divine, Celene, Cullen, Cassandra and Haven's revered father.

None of those characters have a major role in Origins--heck, you kill the Revered Father within seconds of meeting him.  Technically Arl Eamon doesn't have much of a role in and of himself, but a lot of plot revolves around him without his input, so I included him.

A male version could be just as arthesically pleasing when compared to pride and rage demons. Just see the picture of a male one I posted a link to a few pages ago; he is just as hot.

Sorry, sometimes when topics are more than 5 pages long I don't read the whole thing :P
Anyway, I tried to look for the link and didn't find it but I did google it and you're right. So I guess that who designed the desire demon had the same thoughts as I did. Maybe he/she just outright assumed a female demon would be more attractive and didn't consider the other option.

Another sexist debate? Smh.

Question, what's wrong with the desire demon being female?

even the sub-conscious mind recognizes female's more desireable, If they weren't I'd imagine the total population of earth would be way less then it is today.

What is considered desirable varies across cultures and time. In parts of ancient Greece the love between two men was seen as more pure. Having sex with women was commonly seen as a necessary evil for the sake of reproduction.

I suggest that you know what youre talking about before you start typing, I would correct you but Im not on here to give History lessons.

Because the libido that would be dripping from a Male Desire Demon's body would be too overpowering for even the greatest willpowered Warden or Hawke to bear.

What?

That doesn't make any sense....

Why would the population be smaller if (as is the case) all women don't find other women attractive subconciously?

If Men didn't find Women desirable, the population of earth would be smaller. I didnt say all Women find other Women attractive subconsciously, i said women recognize themselves as more desirable, that is undeniable. (Wether they appreciate the benefits of being the more desirable sex is another issue)

The reason earth's population is as big as it is has very little to do with men finding women attractive. By your logic men in Europe must find women very little attractive since the birth rates aren't enough to keep up the current population (any increase of population is due to immigration).

The countries with a very high population are countries that are or have been typically very poor. Poor families get more children to help make money for the family. Also since death rates among children has tended to be very high they get even more children to make sure as many as possible of them grow up to take care of the parents when they get old. So the number of kids people get has more to do with poverty and wealth than men liking women. It wouldn't surprise me if birth rates in India drops as the middle classes grow.

I might just be making this up but each demon has resembled a type of sin almost.
[*]Rage Demon-Burning hatred and angrer the agressive type of demon. WRATH.
[*]Sloth Demon- Lazy Monotone doesn't do much. SLOTH.
[*]Hunger Demon- Skeletons, Devouring corpses. Desiring human flesh due to the lack of a body. GLUTTONY/ ENVY. [*]Sylvans Trees- They show and extreme jelousy of other living things.ENVY.
[*]Pride- Monstrously powerful. PRIDE.
[*]Desire Demon- Women/Succubus. Fufilling one's true desire, feeding off one's desires. LUST.[*]Abbominations- Those who gave in, power hungry.  GREED

The desire demon reminds me of Lilith; A succubus basically the incarnation of lust. It dates back to the Adam and Eve kind of story. The women holding a sort of power over men and using their lust or desires against them.

So long story short they demons could be described by their sin representation. Lust/Desire being the obvious one most commonly reffered to by sexual lust or desire of power, fame ect. Although as stated above they could have used both female and male models for it; Succubus and Incubus.

Abominations are not demons. They are simply humans possessed by demons (or spirits, for that matter). Anders was an abomination possessed by vengence/justice, Uldred was possessed by pride. In the same vein corpses can be possessd by any demon (Justice occupies one for a while), and presumably the same is true for the trees.

Moreover, as I said before, the fact that misogynistic myths exist in Judeo-Christian tradition does not mean they need to be used in DA.

Not necessarilly human. Mr. Wiggums turned into an abomination, and he was a cat. The damn cat gave in to temptation. Tsk tsk.

@Freshistay, you can't be serious...

How is it 'undeniable' that women are more attracted to other women than men? That just.......look, as someone who has a fairly basic knowledge of biology, even I know that if more women were attracted to women than men, population rates would DECREASE, not INCREASE!

According to the most recent studies on female attraction (which are far from definitive), women are all over the place where it comes to attraction.  And not just SOME women.  ALL women.  Men, women, farm animals, doesn't matter, it's ALL hot to them.  Men, on the other hand, tend to be VERY strongly one way and one way only, to the point where one of the researchers opined that there's no such thing as a truly bisexual male--they will always have a stronger preference one way or another.

There may even be a reason why women seem to have a more generalized "sex is fun!" drive than an "I WANT A MAN!" drive--raising children successfully depends a lot on maintaining good relations with a LOT of people, not just one guy.  Competitive habits can be lethal, and it's competition you get when you're overfocused on one source of intimacy.

A single man can get dozens of women pregnant at once. Even if 90% of the male population had no attraction to women, the human population would be similar.

The cap is 'women are willing/able to conceive and raise children.' A woman can only become pregnant with (typically) 1 kid at a time and pregnancy is a drain on the body in a way sperm production isn't for men.

So you are seriously telling me that the human population would be almost identical in number if the Majority of men didnt find Majority of Women desirable? :o

I'd love to hear the logic behind that one.

Desire demons have what appears to be a human female shape because Females are more desirable than Male's, That is all.

@PsychoBlonde

I already knew that; women tend to have a more fluid sexuality than men. BUT, that doesn't mean that they find women more attractive than men!

Not even remotely!

It is entirelly possible I've mixed up Greece with some other ancient culture, in which case I apologize (either that or I've been taught wrongly), but the point still stands that what is desirable is not something that is static.
