As much as I hate missing out on content, exclusive stuff should remain exactly that.

How can we convince EA and Bioware that exclusive restricted content isn't the way to go when we have people who think exclusive shinies of limited quality should stay forever after exclusive? From Ashes would have absolutely critically hit the Mass Effect fanbase had it remained a Collector's Edition exclusive. It's a year later and years later after Mass Effect 2- whatever's been exclusive has been exclusive long enough.
And I'm not just saying this because of FemShep's ugly dress but it's a huge factor. Give me the chance to buy the hoodie and we'll all come out smiles.<3<3 <3

From Ashes was never a Collectors Edition exclusive, it was day one DLC for all Mass Effect 3 players regardless of the version they bought. Collectors Edition owners simply got it for free.Allison_Lightning wrote...

As for the hoodie. If you have the 360 or PC version of the game you can unlock it with the gibbed save editor, along with the N7 Defender armour from the N7 Warfare Gear pack.
Plus I do think that, providing the 'excusives' are simply cosmetic, that they should remain exclusive items.

It's a bit tricky. I have two conflicting ideas.
1. Preorders have had plenty of time to enjoy the extra weapons and armor. Why keep this away from other players except to spite them or hold yourself above them?
2. Preorders had faith that the developers would deliver a good product. Should they keep these rewards to themselves, as it was implied they would keep it exclusive?
Both ideas seem to have merit to me. On one hand, I'd like for everyone to have the option to receive the exact same experience as any other player. On the other, many people preorder specifically for those rewards. Ultimately, I feel that I would want all players to be able to have the same experience, which would include aesthetic designs.
Off-Topic:
I don't see why anything should be exclusive when buying from specific retailers. It only encourages people to put money down for a game that may or may not be well-done. This works in favor of the developer and the retailer. But the whole idea is counter against the consumer. My position is that people should stay away from the preorder junk altogether. The people that do preorder encourage developers to focus more on marketing and preorder bonuses while delivering a subpar product. But the failure of the game won't matter because of those presales. It's a plague that consumers should fight against, not encourage. (Not saying ME is one of those games. Just a general thought.)

It's all crap or cosmetic junk anyway. And making a bunch of virtual items exclusive (that are all almost on the disk anyway) is just really stupid.

I think a big point of it is this. If I know that everything from the collectors edition is going to be released later on, why buy the collectors edition? Would it not just make financial sense to buy the standard version and employ a little patience? Unless of course you are desperate for the shiny box.Sterio wrote...

After all the hoodie and robot dog aren't important to the game. They are really just cosmetic. Cosmetic rewards to the folk who paid extra at launch.
Perhaps I simply don't feel hard done by about this. I never has the special editions of the first two games at launch, buying the Digital Deluxe Edition of ME2 much later when EA sent me a 50% off code for use on Origin.
I resigned myself to not getting the ME3 Collectors Edition as it was exclsuive to GAME here in the UK and they were charging silly money. However they lost the exclusive and I was able to bag a copy from Amazon.
The exclusive stuff I do have is simply for the PC, I don't have it for my 360 or PS3 copies and when I play them I don't feel as if I am missing out on anything (well except decent screen resolution
If you consider it to be content of such poor quaility then why do you want it?Morocco Mole wrote...
