Is BSN giving up on gold PUGs?

I mostly play silver PUGs because I can play with a greater variety of characters and weapons and find games quickly. But I do want to play more gold PUGs with stronger characters and weapons and more lvl III gear. But it seems to take a long time to get any takers in the gold forum. Usually I come in with only one other player there. If his numbers are high and he has gear, we'll start a dual game, and maybe get to wave 5-6 before anyone joins us. If his numbers a low (low N7, lvl I weapons, no gear) I never kick him, but I'll wait for a stronger player before starting. Many times it's a long wait. Sometimes I'll start the game alone and hope a strong player joins. That rarely works out well.

So, have the better players mostly gone to private gold/platinum games?  Or is this just a random thing?

I played a bunch of them this past week. I was irritated in 75% of them but only pissed off in like 25% so that's not so bad.

OP -- what platform? I pug U/U gold on PS3 and usually get into games right away (not unusual to get dropped into ongoing games).

I pug Gold and Platinum (Xbox if you wanna play gt same as username).

But a lot of the BSN community prefers players who have improved by playing silver until they plateau and need to make the jump, as well as random players who use consumables when they pug. I'm not saying you do or not, I'm just answering the question so you get a sense of why we tend to play with friends vs. playing with randoms. Most randoms just aren't ready for Gold, and then they don't use consumables on top of it. Gets old after a few games.

I pug gold all the time, no problem. Takes 2-3 tries usually to find a lobby that isn't full of people sporting the "carry me lol" banner but my own lobbies take ****ing forever to fill. I'll also auto-bail from in-progress games. So I've basically given up on hosting unless with friends. Which is never because I have none. foreveralone.jpg

At least on PS3, Gold PUGs are fine to this day. Platinum ones are iffier, but being picky helps a lot.

I have a lot of faith in PUGs, actually. It seems extraordinary to me that 15 months after the game came out there are still that many quality lobbies.

Gold is still puggable.
Plat is a different story though.

I play with a friend in gold and we almost never fail a match (pc version). So two randoms per match and things seem to go fine.

On PS3 I PUG gold every day with no problem.

I rarely PUG platinum however because it has been mostly campers on Rio.

I gave up on PUGs in every difficulty. They're all terrible. Bronze PUGs are annoying because they play with OP kits and guns. Gold PUGs are annoying because they play with kits that they don't understand and guns that don't do enough damage (due to lack of equipment/mods/etc) As for silver PUGs, they don't know how to revive. So.

I play all my games on random Gold. I never have an issue finding a game either in progress or in a lobby.

Knockingbr4in pls

I'm not in danger of dying on silver but I'm also not playing silver with PUGs to solo waves.

Soloing can be fun, but I can see why you wouldn't want to give free credits to terrible players.

...I was hosting, looking for 2 players to fill in the last 2 spots, so I changed the lobby to "Public." Immediately, we get a human soldier with an Avenger X, and a geth soldier with a GPR IX and GPSMG X. We heckled them for a bit, but neither one would budge for a good 5 minutes. Finally, one of our friends comes online, so we use the "friends wanna play" excuse, and got rid of them both.

If it wasn't platinum I would have given those guys a chance *serious off. Kick everybody.

What difficulty was the lobby set to? On Platinum I suppose I could see your point in wanting rid of them but certainly not on Gold.

OT: I like playing with randoms every now and then, keeps things fresh. Plus, I met quite a few folk on my friends list through pugs.
