I have been preaching different genres Mass Effect games for a while, but I still want a sequel, if anything to see Mac's original dream undone
I'd pay for a game featuring Vega in a DeLorean if it meant seeing the endings undone.
As for scripted characters: Those actually break immersion for me. I play games to play a character, not watch a movie where I get to do the shooty parts. If I want to be a passive observer, I read a book.
Edit: And this is why I find teh decision to make more 'cinematic" rpgs to be pretty laughable. How is it immersive to have your own character walking around saying stuff you don't want them to say?
Never heard of those choose your own adventure books? If you don't want to make choices, then you might as well just watch a movie or read a book. A game is a form of storytelling where the gamer SHOULD make choices, because they can. Would you play Sim City if the city was scripted to build up a certain way, without your input? Dwarf Fortress uses randomly generated game worlds, and I believe it is one of the best games I've ever played. You can do whatever you want in adventure mode, there is no scripted story.
