 Hello, I have another problem: Hlam lacks the dialogue option to start the duel.  I completed the trial without any problems, but now I am stuck.  It should be noted that I have had several problems with this game:

Couldn't complete enforcing order in the docks
Sir Grayson didn't appear until a script was entered
Could only go to port Llast (and several other new areas) if I left from blacklake district

Not sure if these are relevent, but I thought I should mention them.  I think my game is going to explode

Hlam is supposed to start an alternate conversation when you're ready for the Rite...

Looks like it worked, thanks again! Not sure if I have ever had so many problems with a single game, but I hear the expansion is the best thing ever.

The three campaigns are all very different from each other, so but I think they're all great in their own ways. I didn't experience any of the bugs you mention, but they all stem from the same source, and those who have the bug at all can expect to have it numerous times.

you know... i really don't know.

But i've looked at a lot, and i mean a lot of OC issues over the past couple years. I'm sure some of it is the hasty scripting; there seems to be much fewer problems with MotB.

my own experience tells me this: when before installing i clean out temp folders, do a defrag, install the OC, run it for a minute, install MotB, run it for a minute, install SoZ (another defrag).. i had no bugs

but one time i installed really hastily and suffered yer current fate, r86. ( that's actually what got me into this mess in the first place


So you've kinda got a choice before MotB. Either trust the robust scripting in the expansion, or try going for a better install

Thanks for the advise, maybe I will try a reinstall. Maybe I am mistaken but I think all of the expansions came together in a "complete pack" and I don't remember installing one at a time. Got it from GOG.com and they normally have everything ready to go.

ok, right. For me, a defrag before and after a big installation like this is a must.

you could even do a cleanup and defrag at present....

Well, it's sure to be different on different machines. Me, I installed from the multi-disc version, and didn't defrag or clean up any temp files, nor start up the game before installing the expansions and doing the updates, and the only bug I had was in the OC, where Black Garius is supposed to summon a boss fight, but he got sucker-punched in the middle of his speech by a bystanding guard and his dialogue broke, forcing me to use the console to start up the next part.

hm that's the second time i heard that defrag etc. doesn't matter

oh well, usually doesn't hurt to treat the computer right
